Hey everybody, while I don’t post on here that often (usually just to praise Erik, Dan’s wonderful work on the GB comic/ or cranking about there not being more of it) I do come here at least a few times a week to read posts, check out the easter egg lists and whatnot.
I recently had the opportunity to direct my first feature film, we finished post-production at the beginning of September and are just this weekend starting to launch our trailer and web presence. The film is called “Distiller.” It’s a horror movie that’s both spooky and family friendly, much like many of the great films we grew up loving. We’re aiming to have it released through iTunes, Netflix, Hulu and hopefully more in the near future.
Since it also involves a character who removes ghosts, goblins, and all manner of unearthly creatures from people’s homes (albeit not exactly like you’re used to seeing) I thought it might interest some people here. I’m not looking to spam anyone, so in the spirit of keeping it short if you’d like to know more you can check out the website, or post a reply.
An update to this: Distiller is going to be released on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video and Googleplay on January 8th. Its currently available for pre-order on iTunes (Distiller - Apple TV)
For anyone in upstate New York, our world premiere will take place January 2nd on the largest movie screen in the northeast at Proctors Theater in Schenectady (Show Calendar | Proctors Theatre)

As I wrote previously, we we’re very influenced by our love of Ghostbusters in making Distiller, down to the use of all practical fx, one of which is the contest grand prize. If you’re a member here I think you might enjoy the film (:
Thanks, and we might. We tried to keep it in line with films like Ghostbusters, Gremlins, the original Poltergeist, Indiana Jones, etc… where its entertaining for adults and scary for kids, but not so scary or graphic that it traumatizes anyone
The bloody hand, the snippet with what looked like an animated, disembodied hand, and the sequence with the girl in a bikini left me feeling that it’s not really family-friendly unless the family’s children are maybe around 15.
Like you said, we might have a difference of opinion, and I can appreciate that.
Officially we are unrated and listed as horror. That shot with the blood is one of the two in the movie that do show blood. We tried to cut trailers that give an honest sense of whats in the film, but I think the movie is in line with the others I referenced above as far as audiences type goes
