I mean the film was one big homage to the legendary horror/sci-fi/fantasy author who is an influential guy you know.
I mean a building using as a beacon for spirits/evil beings from another dimension, interdimensional gods, gatekeepers, keymasters and all.

Absolutely. the whole demonic gozer cults, opening dimensional portals, summoning gods/demons is all very Lovecraftian.
Gozer in a sense is basically Cthulu.
Oh yes, this I was aware of from a Youtube review of Ghostbusters. I’ve got a bit of reading backlog at the moment, but will try to get around to reading some Lovecraft soon to check it out.
I have not read any of his works but being a die hard bloodborne fan (ps4 game that is direct inspiration from love craft), as well as my co-worker talking about it frequently, I dont get that vibe.
From what I’ve learned and understand, love craft was about cosmic horror. Most people could not comprehend these beings and entitys. If one was to gain knowledge, they would be driven mad and pushed to insanity the closer and more insight they got.

Agreed. I can see the idea the thread’s getting at, but having read Lovecraft, there’s not nearly enough insanity and creeping horror for Ghostbusters to be Lovecraft-esque.
