My original plans for Halloween was to turn my white cherokee into an ecto 1 and drive it through the neighborhood with my gear. Well that got cancelled for other plans. Now THOSE plans were cancelled, so it’s back on! Unfortunately, the Cherokee needs work, so my sorento gets the conversion now. But I have only one week until Halloween, and haven’t even started yet.
Challenge accepted!
I’ll post some pics of the progress (if i even have time to stop and take pictures)…
I will need to build a roof rack, light bar, and all the equipment on top. Plus decals.
Well, I finished the slime blower gun, the backpack frame, and part of the roof rack. I also made a siren from a voice recorder, an amplifier from a set of computer speakers, and a horn. I am almost done with the light bar, I have the control circuitry finished and it is all in a box ready to install. The “tanks” on the roof rack are also painted. I ran out of pipe, but I got more today to finish the rack tomorrow. Here’s some pics:

I don’t think this will come out very “movie accurate” with the time/money constraints… I will be happy with “definitely recognizable as a ghostbuster vehicle”…
More progress, although I had a major delay at the cel phone store yesterday, so I am falling behind. I did finish the roof rack and my daughters slime thrower. I am now working on roof accessories.
Thanks! I wish I had more time, but I have to do this after work and it’s slowing me down.
I finished all the roof accessories, tomorrow I will install it all on the rack. I’m going to add some electronic equipment cases and ammo boxes to fill it out.
I like the funky radar dish, it came out well for being an old TV stand!
The base of the light bar is a drain pipe I found at Lowe’s hardware called “stealth flow” . It hooks to gutters or something. It was cheap and the right shape, so I snagged it. It is a little flimsy, so i added an aluminum strip to the front to for strength. The domes are old security camera lenses.
Dry run! I assembled everything on the roof and made some adjustments. Then I took it all back off. Tomorrow I will permanently mount everything to the board on the rack, and add the light bar. Friday I will finish it up and take it to the local car show, and then Saturday…Halloween!
Thanks! I’m trying to make it look as “realistic” as possible to make up for the rushed job. Without the ghost logos on the doors it looks like some sort of survey vehicle or tornado chaser…
Ok! Finally done! And in only one very exhausting week. (I did this while working a regular job!) Wow am I tired! I’m taking it to a car show tonight, and Halloween tomorrow. Next Friday I will set it all up again for a sci-fi themed event at the city park. At least I’ll get some use out of it! Well here’s the results, let me know what you think of it:
