This is one of my stations truck responding to a firecall with the Ecto siren..
thats is so dang awesome
Is that through a PA? That’s so sweeeeeet!
I call shenanigans.
This.
Yes it was played through the PA…
Ha! I’m gonna do that when I get back to work next week. Stay tuned.
As do I
As from a guy who has run a ecto siren on an ambulance, and a heavy rescue, through a PA.
I’m calling shenanigans, that is dubbed, not even through a PA.
If it did actually run through the PA, the acoustics would’ve changed as it sped up, came to a stop, and passed buildings, especially that large solid one at the stop sign.
EDIT: and it wouldn’t have sounded NEARLY as clear. I call fake.

WACKY HIJINKS
Not really. The sound would only change if the camera was moving relative to the speaker. How does no one ever get that?
Nah, I have run the siren through many a speaker and there is a very distinct difference between how the sound effect file sounds out of something like computer speakers, external audio without bass, and especially when it comes out of something like a 100-watt siren speaker.
No dice man. Very uncool to make shit up. Go hang with KN1GHT.
Hey Sam, whats that resturant you like with all that stuff on the walls?
There’s no distortion on the siren at all; it would never sound that clear coming out of a PA system, on top of being recorded by a cheap camera with an omnidirectional mic in a heavily compressed Youtube video. No respectable rescue worker would abuse their authority by playing the Ecto-1’s siren while on a call.
i wish alot of the rescue workers that are members here followed this statement.
I disagree.
It isn’t ‘abusing authority’. . .
I am a decorated firefighter and EMT, along with a police background.
It’s a siren, none the less.
I have done this, because its fun, it breaks the day up, and people get a kick out of it if the can tell what it is.
…
shenanigans
I’ve heard alot worse things come through our scout car PA systems than a recording of a siren! None of which took place while we were actually en route to a call. I think the last thing I would be concerned with while trying to get somewhere would be goofing around with a PA and my IPhone. Goofing around while not on a call, or en route to a call is different. But, those of us in the police/fire/EMS services do have to be somewhat careful, as we are usually guilty until proven innocent with our employers. in the end, it’s all good fun, until someone gets hurt!
I guess its all in where you work and how long you have been doing it.
Because me and my partner would goof around anywhere, anytime.
