Ectomobile questions!

Hello there! I’m brand new to the forums, but I’ve been a GB fan since I was little. I’ll probably do a proper intro on the.. well… intro part of the forum, so let’s get down to brass tacks!

I’m in the hunt for a car, and I’m hoping to find something similar to the Ecto-1. I don’t know a lot about cars (sadly), so a lot of the terminology eludes me. I’m trying to find a ‘wagon’ or ‘van’ style car that has a… rear loading door, I think it’s called. That’s really the trouble. I don’t know what the rear door is actually called. Any ideas?

Also, what I was thinking was if I were to do a GB-style makeover, do you think a ‘reverse palette’ would be acceptable? (Black instead of white, and green highlights instead of red)

This is all really just conceptual at this point. But, I figured this was the best place I could share my ideas, fictional or not!

Thanks in advance for all suggestions and assistance.

Pretty much most of your questions have been discussed in depth here in the Ectomobiles forum. I know it may be frustrating to not have questions answered immediately, but you should trust me when I say that foraging the site at your own pace, and being very thorough with reading threads will go very far with helping you understand Ectomobiles and Ecto-conversions.

I believe most cars have a door to their rears, in either trunk or door-form. The terminology you’d be looking for is wagon or hatchback, I think.

As far as the color scheme goes, lots of people have tries lots of different things, check out the Ecto-conversion Archive for a pretty comprehensive… uh… archive of ecto-reps.

I have been slowly scouring the forums for the answers as well. I do realize asking the question before trying to look it up was a bit of a faux pas, so I appreciate you being kind in your response. I’ll check out the link you gave there. Thanks for the help, and I’ll try not to ask any more goofy ‘rtfm’ questions!
