Hi folks
I thought I’d show you all my first Proton Pack build - made nearly 99% out of EVA foam for approximately $150, taking around 50hrs to build (my first time making a prop, so a lot of learning went into it). Looking to improve my technique and get the next one more screen accurate with lights / sound and a proper gun. Any feedback welcome

Thanks very much Rowan - I also rushed it a bit, so definitely not happy with it yet and can’t wait to get started on another I’m so glad that I made it out of foam too, because walking around a con all day with one of these things at full weight can be quite tiring! The frame weighs more than the pack itself
My first was originally all out of plywood, so I can definitely relate! Having a light pack is not overrated! My current pack project is mostly cardboard and plastic and is light!
Great work! Isn’t EVA fun? All of my teams traps are made from it and I’ve built a movie, RGB and XGB packs from it
What kind of frame are you using? Looks interesting 
I am so glad this one wasn’t made out of cardboard - when I went to the con, there was rain and the traffic was backed up for miles so I had to get out of the taxi and walk some of the way (luckily, the taxi driver gave me an umbrella so my overalls didn’t get wet)!
It’s from the 90s and the only stamp on it says Israel - the local army surplus store sourced it for me. It’s hard to get the real deal ALICE frame in NZ. It definitely did the job though!
I reinforced my cardboard with Bondo, sealants, and so forth. So won’t have any problems with the rain however, my first pack with plywood I basically glued everything together, and quickly learned over the course of my first convention that that was a bad idea…
