Firehouse script

So through some good luck I have acquired a final production script for Frozen Empire from a senior crew member.

It arrives Wednesday and I’ll be happy to lookout for any alternative or cut stuff, and will happily share with the GB community.

Very happy to be adding it to my collection, hopefully I will find some neat gems to share!

Awesome! Definitely interested in what got changed and what could have been. I like Frozen Empire but it could use some tweaking.

Groovy.

Goes without saying but if you scan all the pages, I’m sure Paul at Spook Central would be down to host it on his site.

Oh I know he would! However I don’t own a scanner and I doubt my boss would let me use the work scanner. I also don’t want to sit and scan 100+ pages.

Just as an example of small changes there’s the line about hyphenating Gary & Callie’s last names together. I love reading even the smallest changes from script to screen.

Here’s a pic of a page the seller sent me.

[Full disclosure AI was used to remove the watermark.]

Ok, that’s neat. Ha ha, now I want to rewatch that scene to see if you can tell there’s an edit there.

Understandable. I would recommend checking with printer/shipping stores like the FedEx store. It was a few years ago when I went to mine but they do scanning services. They have high end scanners and turn it into a pdf and can send it to your email or you can provide a usb drive. I forget it was something like $1/per page but since you don’t have a scanner nor want to do it yourself, that’s the opportunity cost. And if you want to contact Paul ahead of doing it and arrange to share the cost or something.

Ladies and gentlemen: it has arrived.

I will be reading it and get back to you all asap. On page 1 and turns out instead of going from the Adventurers Society to the Ecto chase scene, it goes from the society and then shows the firefighters back at the Firehouse itself. Also the opening starts there not at the Firehouse.

EXT. LARGE WOODEN DOORS OPENING

The FIREFIGHTING WAGON is backed into it’s stall. The firefighters bewildered as they return home.

Music builds as we back away. We see bricks. We see windows. We’re across the street now, when we finally recognize our location…The FIRE HOUSE in 1903.

GHOSTBUSTERS LOGO FILLS SCREEN

It was delivered by Fedex about 20 minutes ago, drop any questions below and I’ll answer them when I’m done reading and able to!

Oh my Gozer.

So this is going to take way longer than I thought. Almost every single page has some different dialog and alternate lines.

Also the Peck meeting is fairly the same except for…Winston is there and shares some back and forth.

I thought it would be some small changes from what made it on screen. There’s much more. I’ll do a longer breakdown at some point over the next fews days.

And “Fire House”?

Is the A.I.-watermark removal scrubbing some of the words from the script? “Driving a ten ton hearse”?

If I’m being totally honest, I have concerns about this script’s authenticity. The writing in the preview images feels suspect

Wow. The AI absolutely didn’t just scrub the watermark.

On a side note a little sad you think I didn’t do my due diligence on the authenticity.

I’ll PM you in a bit.

Generative AI especially the free models love to “hallucinate” aka make a bunch of errors to complete the task.

How many pages total?

To clarify, it’s Firehouse/Fire House or Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire on the title page?

In the final battle before Garraka shows up, are there longer scenes with each ghost? Are there other ghosts?

It is bound together or something that can be separated to scan?

Oh man. This is cool. What a find. Id love to get my hands on this. I have so many questions. As is tradition with these films, i suspect much was changed from script to screen. Garraka & Melody. Something’s up with that stuff surely. How is Garraka communing with Melody despite being trapped? The final showdown is so lacklustre as well. I wonder how much thst changed. The film feels so claustrophobic with how interior set based it is. Even things set technically outside feel filmed in a set.

Is there more Ray & Podcast(god what were they thinking when they named this character?). Best part of the movie was those 2. Ray in general was awesome in this movie. The bit where Ray tells Winston, “this is what I love doing”. So good.

And Derek I know no one wants to spend the time scanning in page after page but if you have an iPhone, it’ll scan documents for you. I know it’s asking a lot. But if I came into a script like this, I’d consider it my sworn Ghostbusters fan duty to make it available. Plllleaaaaase. If that attempted guilt trip didn’t do the trick, I don’t know what will.

A real prize would be Afterlife’s script. Now that went through some changes. Anyways, great work Derek. Keep em coming.

There’s roughly 116 pages.

Here’s the cover. “FIREHOUSE SCRIPT”

As far as I can tell no longer ghost scenes or other ghosts. At least not in this copy. A small note is the possessor is referred to as a female.

It is indeed bound and tbh I’d have to flatten the pages to scan, but it is something I plan to do at some point. Eventually.

Also there’s a lot more scenes with Melody, including the cut Subway scene that the actress herself posted a pic from.

No idea if it was actually filmed but the vibe of Phoebe and Melody is much more heavily implied to be romantic than what we saw.

Notice in the movie Podcast goes from homemade nametag to “proper” one without explanation? Here ya go. (Once again AI was used only to remove watermarks, and this time I doublechecked to make sure it didn’t alter anything else)

Yes folks eventually I’m sure I’ll get around to scanning it for the fandom.

It will however take extra time to remove all the watermarks, of which there’s multiple from small colored lines to actual name printed across the entire pages, intential misspellings, other marks, etc.

You would not believe how hard it was to get this. It wasn’t as simple as an eBay listing. “Oh neat I’ll buy that.”

We had at length discussions because they didn’t want to just hand it over to just anyone. Also there were some stipulations to buying it that I intend to honor/keep my word on, which includes (for now but not forever) not revealing what crew members copy it is.

So I’m going to be real with you and say I’m not running to my local Kinko’s tomorrow or anything. I love Ghostbusters but I’m a grown ass man working 2 jobs, OT every week, kid, etc.

So it will happen, but I don’t want to make any promises on when. Maybe it would be a good Christmas gift from my team and I to everyone?

I will be releasing more observations/notes/etc though and some pages sometime though. Of course feel free to ask me here and/or follow the Michigan Ghostbusters on social media.

Frozen Fridays sound like a fun idea to me? We used to do Feig Fridays but fans just wouldn’t stop being nasty on the posts. I’m not an ATC fan but it annoyed me. Anyways ask away folks.
