Man yeah I’d love an Exoray kit but I don’t think I can justify the £200 and there would possibly be a murder in my house. I’m just gonna go and sit in the corner and have a little cry. I just e-mailed those guys again to see if they are going to do any revisions on the shells, yup they do look very soft on detail, would be so much easier and probably less expensive if there were guys in the UK who did this sorta stuff 
Really, buulding your own is NOT that hard.. its more puzzle solving, and learning construction techniques. I really enjoyed building our so much, that when they were done, I missed that challenege!
I’m starting again, I’ve decided this pack just isn’t right, the gear box is totally the wrong dimensions, the spacer looks far too wide on the ‘circular part’ (that’s technical lol) I’m just going to use the first pack to take into account just how badly I did the first time round. I’ve already started building a new gear box, the hardest thing I’ve found is getting the grain out of the wood I was using, sand first then cut I think 
Mdf is the best if you can afford it my pack has no grain in it at all and is totally smooth.

OOh yeah found it, man if I had £600 flying about the place I’d snap it up but I don’t have that kinda of money The new pack’s gonna be a mix of foam, MDF, styrene n’ all that good stuff. I’ve already got a cyclotron, clippards and the spectra strip so that cut’s down on having to make parts. I’ll be cutting another mobo next week when I get paid
Incidentally, did you sand down the MDF before you painted? Could you post a link to your pack? Thanks!
Do the mb last, in case any of the other parets you make are not sized properly.
I had to redo out motherboards, because by the time I was ready for assembly, the damned things had warped on us!
(Plus, I needed just a bit better measurement anyway.)
Any clues about MDF? Does it need sanding first? I used small portions of MDF on the first pack but the edges seem to be a little ‘feathered’ and didn’t take to painting very well, could just do with some more insight on MDF before I buy materials
Hi Stanz my pack was made by a friend and as far as im aware it was only primed and then sanded.
Its heavy but it came out really well the bumper is also MDF. All of what you see is mdf pack and thrower.

Thanks Elwood, great pack! I’ve just been and bought the MDF and have already started cutting pieces, maybe the MDF I used on the first pack was the wrong grade or something but this lot seems fine, just a bit of light sanding here and there but all is well at the moment

Yeah I guess I should make that more clear sometimes. Not many geeky fanboi wifes here.. LOL!
Shes actually worst them I am sometimes. When we were coming back from the game day launch appearances, she started talking about how she wouldn’t mind picking up an older white station wagon, and making it into an ecto.. LOL!
Course what she REALLY means is she wouldn’t mind if I did all the work making one.. LOL!
Going well thanks Elwood. All main boxes are cut, mother board is cut, I just have to find the material to ‘wall’ the spacer and make the wand then it’s ready for the spray job! I’ll post up some pics when it get’s a bit closer to completion, I’ll definitely sign up to the UK Ghostbusters, cheers!

Well guys here’s the start of my second pack:
First attempt at making a bumper! Not too bad…
What I’ve done on the pack so far:
I think it’s looking alot better than the first one What you reckon? Just waiting on the tubing kit from MMM then I need to finish sealing then it’ll be almost ready for paint! I know the gear box is wonky but that’s because I made it from foam kneeling boards and the pipe is making it lean. I’ve tried doing the N Filter tonight but man that thing is a hassle, just can’t seem to measure or cut it right ggggrrrrr
An N-Filter…My friend Pringles tube easy to fit and most people use them too or you could cut a hole in the cyclotron but that can be really tricky i would recommend you try the pringles tube over the cyclo and if you mess it up get another tube…But that is looking far far better and will look cool sprayed up also for the clippard’s and stuff Nick-a-tron does them and lights JT94 does a great kit too..And also as your aware MMM my firrst pack was this…

I bought some Clippards from MMM a while back and I’m so glad I didn’t attach them to the first pack I’m so pleased with the way the bumper is coming along I was dreading building it from scratch. Best pop into cottles later (kinda like a pound shop) they do like 20 tins of pringles for a pound

Just a small update on what I did yesterday, got bored of looking at bits of wood! It’s not the final coat, I’m going to grey prime then respray black. I’m kinda stuck until I get the Alice frame but hopefully it should either be here today or tomorrow
A quick question. How would you go about attaching the bumper plate the the bumper? I thought glue would do it but then it has to take the weight of the shock mount, I thought to screw it on but then the bumper band is too thin to actually screw anything into as it’s only one sheet of MDF, maybe some kind of bracket?
Well there are a few ways to do that mine is glued on and i bought a shock mount from Exoray and there really good too there is also a shock mount on ebay.com for sale there made from plastic and are really light weight. There ok but i prefer Exoray’s as it aliminium and also light weight. I did have a shock mount made from washers but it was heavy also to attach it i put a long bolt right through the bumper and attached it with a bolt which also helped keep the bumper plate on..
