Looks like you’ve got a cool / organized looking shop as well!
Only things I see that concern me, are that the handle seems a bit taller than it should be, and that the wall separating the ‘battery’ from the Trap ‘cartridge’ might be a tad wider then the base and it’s causing a slight gap in the base at one end where the side walls meet it.
Aside from those, it’s looking like a good start.

Well, I finally got back to the garage again and started back up on the trap. I have almost finished my trap pedal, but am using Radio Shack project boxes instead of the real ones. I suppose it looks okay, however they are not to specs. I am also using NTE relays instead of the ITT ones. (Does anyone know of a good source for ITT relays?) Also I am almost done with the trap cartridge but I think I screwed part of it up…I’ll post some pictures tomorrow! :sigh:
Well here’s the outer portion with handle (lowered for those who thought it was too long) and it’s ready for bondo! I am a little worried about that step to be perfectly honest. Anyone think I shouldn’t use bondo, speak now for tomorrow will be too late. Any other suggestions, please let me know. All are welcome!
Nice woodwork! Bondo or woodfiller will work, wood filler is easier to use and doesn’t stink up your workshop.

I wasn’t having a go at you, I was asking as I didn’t understand why you’d created a new one in light of the existing one… as it was common practice to simply update the existing topic with the content from the latest developments of the subject.
On the Trap, is that a film accurate relay or one you found?
Well, here is my first attempt to make the trap cartridge itself. It sticks out about a quarter inch or more too much, so I will have to make some adjustments later.
As for the relay on my project box, it is from a company called NTE. I got it at FRY’S here in good ol’ Illinois. I think it looks okay, but NTE makes a much better relay I found online that is much more true to the movie trap.

looks great, man. nice and clean. what did you use for the footsie part of the pedal in place of the vector plate?
Whilst I haven’t held a Trap and foot pedal in my hands to judge scale… the Trap looks smaller than I would’ve thought it’d be when next to the pedal you built…
For the pedal itself, I used the rubber non slip stair cover. I glued it to the pedal and trimmed the edges to be flush with it. You can get sheets of the non slip stuff from Home Depot for about 3 dollars.
Also, I am having a bit of trouble finding a spring for under the pedal. I got this little sink plunger that looked amazing, however it is yellow. I did primer it and paint it black, alas the paint chipped off and would just not stick. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
