So, I am new to the ghostbusters field… I ordered a Nomex CWU/ 27P flight suit off ebay (and boy, I hope i got the right size… can someone tell me how the sizing works… I ordered a 42R.. and i am 5’11 195lbs.. )
Anyway, its the tan one and I will be looking to dye it with the pearl gray RIT. I have never used dye, nor have I ever seen anyone do it. Can i get some advice or tips on what to do please? Any and all info would be great.. I am clueless when it comes to dyeing clothes. THANK YOU!!!
A) you cannot dye a nomex suit, it’s synthetic.
B) you do not need to dye tan nomex suits as they are already very close to the color of the screen used suits.
C) neither of the suits in GB1 nor GB2 were grey, with the exception of the dark grey suits you see in the GB2 montage.

Well, in regards to the first part: 195 lbs and 5’11"? I would think 44R or 44L would have been the right size. I’m 175-180 and 6’1", and wear a 44L, and it fits like a glove. Hopefully Vinny or someone can chime in with their thoughts.
In regards to the second part: The screen used suits were not dyed, and you do not need to dye yours to make them look like the ones in the movies. The suits in the movies were khaki. Also, you cannot dye a Nomex, just tint it slightly. I dyed my one suit, and regret it…the color looks fine, but I will forever have purple valcro tabs. If you still feel you want to try the dye process, check the forums for dye recipies.
a 42R will fit you but it will probably be tight. i would suggest at least a 44 or 46 like Krenzy said.
Thanks for the input… i didn’t know that you couldn’t dye a nomex suit. I’m sure once i see it in person i will fall in love with it… and thanks for the heads up… i don’t want purple velcros…
