Just looked at your pieces. At a guess I’m going to say drawn on paper, scanned, flattened, and colored?
Yeah. That’s the system I’ve used for about the last ten years; it’s worked for me so far.
I may occasionally tweak or change something in the Gimp program, and I’ve done more and more effects on the computer over the years, but on the whole the “base” drawing is usually in pencil or ink, then scanned.

I’ve done some drawings of the new equipment from the upcoming Ghostbusters 2016 reboot, so it’s past time I did some characters.
First up is Dr. Abigail L. (“Abby”) Yates, played by Melissa McCarthy (who is in just about every movie Paul Feig directs, it seems lol)
I’m the first to admit that when it comes to trying to draw real people, I’m a caricaturist at best, but I hope maybe it’s as close as the character designs 88MPH (spits at Sebastien Clavet) and IDW have been using the last dozen years–close enough to be recognizable if not exact (and run afoul of Bill Murray’s lawyer lol)
Looking good, will be interesting to see your take on the reboot Packs.
And I think it says something that you, with your well-documented love for Ghostbusters overall, are drawing up art based on it.
I think you’ve stated it somewhere, but are you planning to see the new film?
Yeah…I really need to try again now that some better pictures are out.
There’s already a guy on Deviantart basically calling me a traitor for drawing the new characters. :lol:
I consider myself still somewhat on the fence about seeing it in the theatre, but after the trailers hit I’m leaning toward. There’s a friend of mine who hadn’t been paying attention at all until the trailers hit, and now wants to go–that does increase the odds also.
Some initial reviews and/or word of mouth will play a role; I really doubt it’s gonna be opening day like GB2, bad as I felt burned by that one, though.

Next up–Patty Tolan. I know Leslie Jones’ outsize personality rubs some people the wrong way, but I laughed my butt off watching her browbeat Kylo Ren in an SNL skit a few months ago. I found trying to convey a bit of that personality in the picture a fun challenge. Maybe the power of Patty compelled me.
Man, it’s darn funny how much my Deviantart activity feed has blown up since I started posting these–for all the complaints about the new movie, it sure seems to get people’s attention quicker than most of the other stuff I’ve been posting the last few years.
…Though I wonder what it says that I didn’t get as much reaction from Patty as I did Abby and Erin…

HauntedWallflower on the Ectozone suggested I draw Kevin. I just gotta decide whether to put him in civvies, his “fake” reboot GB outfit, or an actual reboot GB outfit. Right now I lean toward a GB outfit–get the civvies when/if I draw the reboot Ghostbusters in civvies, probably.
I’d suggest the DIY suit, as we might not actually see him in full gear in the film, and so far it’s sorta his most iconic look thanks to the trailers and most of the photos of him so far.
Definitely the DIY. And since we don’t know his surname, maybe put a question mark (Or 4) on the name tag.
Well, the DIY suit just has a piece of masking tape with “Kevin” written on it.

Longtime followers of my Deviantart know I sometimes experiment with recolors–I’ve got one slight recolor/alteration of the whole team on the way, and one other one I’m contemplating–I just need to figure out which recolor scheme is gonna go with which character–except Patty. That one’s easy for a couple of reasons. (I wonder if I’m being too blatant or too cryptic about what I’m meaning…)
I suspect I’ve already guessed what you’re planning (that’s you all over, keeping it real).
