So part of my “revival” is converting my 2007 VW Rabbit into an ecto. However, I’m kinda stuck on how to attach any roof parts to my car.
Here’s a quick 3D mock up of my idea for what I want to do:

So any ideas for where to start? I would like to avoid any permanent attachments as I still need to drive this for my every day vehicle. I was thinking of finding a roof rack, or roof basket, but just not sure how to secure it even then. Also thought maybe even one of those enclosed storage bins might be a good start. Any help would be appreciated
Drill through the glass for those two tubes on the driver’s side.
I was pondering a work around using suction cups or magnets to make it appear it is going through the glass. The full illusion is that it would be “connected” to another set of tubs that are connected to a mini ecu I would have in the back.
So I’ve been discussing my idea with a few members here and decided for the roof rack I need to go back to the drawing board given the constraints I have about modifying the vehicle directly. So for now, I may have to stick with vinyl alterations and some simple LED lights based inside the car until I find another solution.
So for now, here’s some pictures of my actual car, and came across another issue that I didn’t think about when making the mock up - this piece of detail on the side of the car.

option A - split the logo ala reboot movie (which I don’t really like, so gonna pass on that for now)
option B - have a small logo on the door above the strip, but I don’t think that would look very good. So pass on that
option C - move the logo towards the back corner where there is enough surface area for the entire logo. Potentially viable cost for placement wouldn’t matter.
option D - have the stripe from the car removed so have the logo on the door(s). This is likely the most expensive option, and kinda goes against the whole “modding the car directly” thing. I may inquire on price once I’m ready to pull the trigger, but for now, B is the way to go given my needs/wants.
option E - putting the logo in the back window could be a potentially good spot as long as it was a material that was transparent from the inside so driving is not obstructed.
So here are some quick photoshop jobs of the side, front, and back of the car. Kinda coming up with stuff on the fly for the warning tape, but I would like some thoughts on logo placement and such, and maybe some text as well.

I’ve always liked the idea of replacing the manufacturer logo with something custom.
