GB Board Game for $50, or Mass Hysteria Kstarter versoin for $200?

Hey, All.

So I’m late to the game as always, and I missed this Ghostbusters game on Kickstarter. I wanted to get opinions from some folks out there about the cool stretch goal stuff.

For people who have the game, would you recommend a guy buy it new online for under $60, or spring for the Kickstarter version on the 'Bay for closer to $200? It’s a heck of a lot more money, but you get some pretty cool stuff.

What say you?

I think I remember them saying that a lot of that stuff will be in expansion packs. From someone who HAS the Deluxe Edition… don’t get me wrong, I love all the extra stuff, but it’s just not worth $200. Hell, the GBShop here sells a LOT of that add-on content and you can get the game and grab the bits you want for FAR less than $200.

Oh. That’s awesome. I didn’t even notice this place had a shop. I’ll check it out.

And if the other stuff is coming out as expansions anyway, that’ll give me a chance to save up some nickles in the mean time.

Where did they say the stuff will come in expansion packs? I remember clearly they said everything with the KS Exclusive stamp will remain exclusive to KS. And the only things that didn’t have the stamp are already included in the retail game box!

I could have SWORN I read that they would be putting out expansion packs in the future that covered the add-ons that weren’t in the Deluxe set like the spectral GBs, the added impossible mode ghosts, and the taxi drivers.

Nope, all of those had the KS Exclusive stamp. Even the additional bundles of standard ghosts had the stamp, so now the only way to get replacement ghosts is to buy another base game!

Well, now I feel like a total asshole… and I’ve been digging through the KS page, the old e-mails, and I know, like… I KNOW I read that somewhere, but… is it possible to get dementia at age 34?

Screw it, next paycheck I’m paying the gouged prices on e-Bay and grabbing the stuff I can’t get from the GBFans shop…

They said they think about making some of the stuff available again in a future Kickstarter campaign, but never in retail.

I got my Mass Hysteria at Boardgamegeek and the taxi drivers on ebay, but I’m still missing the spectral busters. And I’m not gonna pay more than the retail game price for 4 tiny plastic men! I would rather buy a different game for that money or save it for something useful.

GBFans shop is great, if you’re in the USA. For europeans the shipping cost and import tax makes it more expensive than the ebay prices.

So I went ahead and sprung for the game on the 'Bay. I got a Deluxe KS version for about the same price as the pledge. And the guy I bought from couldn’t have been nicer.

Oh, man. I can’t wait to play.

Awesome man. Enjoy! Just, do yourself a favor and start out with one of the more simple campaigns (I think it’s called Slimer sticks around). It’s not terribly hard and will get you accustomed to the rules.

Good call, thanks. If I start out with anything too crazy, nobody’ll play with me again.

Heh, yeah, we learned that the hard way. Everyone saw Stay Puft and were all “Let’s go after HIM!” 20 minutes later, we quit and set up the Slimer scenario >_>

You might have gotten the idea from this article. “The version of the game we received for review is the base game, minus the many stretch goals the campaign reached. It’s safe to assume those will be available to non-backers as an expansion pack in the future, and we’ll talk about those extras shortly.” But there’s nothing definitive that they’ll be released outside of the campaign.

That must have been it. Ugh, still feeling like an ass

I had to cough up $200 for the Mass Hysteria edition on eBay because I missed the campaign. It’s a great game especially with friends and the add-on’s are awesome. If it makes you feel any better, through Kickstarter I believe the Mass Hysteria edition was about $145 or so.
