This is not my idea in anyway, and I can’t remember which member here said it, but I always loved the idea of Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs doing a shoot with the Ghostbusters for an opening scene.
Unfortunately it’s not that ‘epic’ so it probably wouldn’t be the best intro after so many years of waiting to see the franchise again, but I still love that idea.

had an idea how to open it
Starts off with Peter in the present on a talk show (most likely Larry King) debating wit good ole’ Walter Peck. The subject, Ghost Rights. For the past 25 years, Peck has sparked the Ghost rights movement not cause he believes in the rights of the undead but just to get back at the Ghostbusters, but Venkman’s wit wins over the debate, stating had it not been for the GBs the world would’ve ended a long time ago. Then Peck jumps to accusing them of instigating paranormal activity. Just before Peter says a word, a LOUD THUD raddles the set. Then screams. A massive WHITE HAND glides through an office and onto the set. Peter’s eyes widen in remembrance and realization. He quickly jumps before it grabs him. He then makes a call. Cut to HQ, the o.g Ecto pulls out of the firehouse and down the street. Back to Venkman down in the lobby, awaiting the approaching Ecto. Just then we reveal the owner of the hand, Stay Puft. The familiar whine of the siren is soon heard and Ecto One pulls over. The guys jump out and hand Peter a pack, and thus commence the battle. Stay Puft is waging a losing battle as the Guys position a mega-trap (ala Video Game) underneath Staypuft. It is here where he grabs a Police Cruiser and tosses it, which JUST HAPPENS TO LAND ATOP VENKMAN! Staypuft is captured, and cheering ensues. Then the cheering turns to crying as our beloved Venkman has passed. (CUE TITLES)

I always imagined an inversion of the first movies’ opening sequence.
**We follow some random woman walking down some random side streets. She hears something following her, turns to see nothing then continues walking. We then hear a more distinct sound and the woman spins around to see something terrifying.
She runs, followed by the terrifying things POV. She runs into a wall. She backs up against the wall, face full of fear. Suddenly, her face is full of anger and she morphs into a ghost reminiscent of the Library ghost.
We hear the sound of a proton pack starting up just before the ghost launches at the camera. It’s blasted back against the wall, turning into the NO-GHOST ghost. The red circle slams against it and then we fade to black. **
I’d like something simple like this that would get a scare and reorientate the audience who might not remember the atmosphere of the first movie. I also like that it has a little of the RGB opening.
For the opening scene it would be cool to have a couple of the new GBs investigating a very old building with infared cameras. A Ghost Hunter kind of vibe but with a bit of tension like Paranormal Activity. Amateur screen writing FTW.
