GB2 flightsuit: How to dye black Rothco - The bucket method!

Picked up a black Rothco slightsuit recently and am going to take the plunge and try to dye it (aiming for the charcoal look).

I’ve checked out the threads regarding this and everyone seems to use a method that involves bleach in their washing machines and machine drying. I’m a little nervous about putting bleach through my machine, and it doesn’t have a tumble dry function.

So what I want to know is, using a bucket (or bath), what’s the best way to get a similar result?

like you said, you’ve read the methods posted and have seen the guaranteed results with a washing machine. A bucket could provide the same results but with an adjusted recipe which you will probably have to figure out on your own through trial-and-error.

Im not sure why you’re afraid of putting bleach in your washing machine, have you never bleached your whites?

trust me, your machine is designed for it since as far as I know there isn’t a washing machine made that can’t handle bleach.

Thanks for the info. Nope, never put bleach in my washing machine, Just didn’t want to risk knackering it and facing the wrath of my girlfriend?

I’ll give it a go and see how it turns out. The flightsuit was only $20, so I can always get another if I ■■■■■ it up.
