Ghostbusters Fans Calendar Project?

I think it would be a cool idea to get a new Project off the ground for 2008… a Ghostbusters Fans Calendar.

This would not be like the previous Calendar that was on GBFans, in that this will be a Physically REAL Calendar that you would be able to hang on your wall. It would also be different in the respect that it would have pictures of Fans, Props, Art, and pics of the Ghostbusters.

What does everyone think about this?

In order to get it for 2008, we need to get it off the ground in the next two weeks.

So lets get decided on what to have in it?

Special Dates

June 8th: Ghostbusters 25th Aniversary

June 16th: Ghostbusters II 20th Aniversary

July 1st: Dan Aykroyd’s Birthday

September 21st: Bill Murray’s Birthday

October 27th: Ivan Reitman’s Birthday

November 21st: Harold Ramis’s Birthday

December 17th: Ernie Hudson’s Birthday

We need more!

Any special themes for each month? Perhaps one month could have a bunch of Proton Pack Pics.. another Ecto-1 Pics.. another Fan Costumes… etc. Lets figure that out.

Monthly Themes

January:

February:

March:

April:

May:

June:

July:

August:

September:

October:

November:

December:

I would think that each month would have a scene from Ghostbusters (or a publicity photo) as the background.. with the pictures spread out around it.

I would like to see someone do some kind of customized design for the cover.. with the Ghostbusters Fans logo.. etc.

LETS DO IT.

Good idea, why dont you put the date gbfans started up on the the special dates, and off course the date i joined thats important… or not lol

and the themes, well yer, anything to do with ghostbusters, not just the 2 movies.

tho i would like each month to have in chronological order the main parts of the two films,

eg.

jan… libary

feb… sedgewick hotel

mar… ghostbust montage

aprl… power grid shut off, ghost escape

may… ‘savin the day’ apartment, gozer

june… ‘i love this town’ cross the streams etc

july… ‘5 years later’ kids party, differnt jobs

aug… slime dig, river

sep… courtroom, battle

oct… were back, 2nd ghostbust montage

nov… slime scare, titanic etc

dec…lady liberty and end vigo bust,

I don’t know if you understood the themes part.

I’ll throw one out there:

October: Fans in Costume / Halloween Pics.

O right, sorry my bad

i get it now,

dec: fans christmas ghostbuster stuff, like wearing santas hat, like in the montage of gb2,

apart from these two months, the other months will be hard to find a theme,

u could do, July: eg independance day, statue of libery scene, but fans, could relate fans slime blowers to it.

or am i still not getting it

You still aren’t.

Dates of significance:

September 13th, 1986: The Real Ghostbusters first hits the air.

September 1st, 1997: Extreme Ghostbusters first hits the air.

Other dates could be the Ghostbusters’ birthdays (not the actors’), when the company went out of and back into business…

Are those other dates known?

I feel like they were mentioned in an ep or two of RGB.

I dont really have any suggestions, but I REALLY dig the idea!

I really like this idea of a calendar and I would order a couple no matter what the outcome is. How about if the calendar had a different part of the world on each month? Since the community has a section “regional” and there are people from all over the world chatting and posting daily, I was thinking that what if each page had a ghostbuster fan in costume posing in some famous spot in the world…a montage of pics of props and various things from that part of the world could be circling it…I dont know, it was just a thought.

Special Dates

June 30, 1908 (1909) The Tunguska Blast

Original airdates of Real Ghostbuster episodes List of The Real Ghostbusters episodes - Wikipedia

Raymond Stantz Date of birth 13 October 1959

Peter Venkman Date of birth 25 October 1954

Egon Spengler Date of birth November 21, 1957

Winston Zeddemore Date of birth 2 May 1953

Janine Melnitz Date of birth 28 October 1958

And there’s probably more stuff you can pull from the RGB episodes. Wow, this would be a fantastic calendar.

Can it be done in time for January 2009?

ok i obviously dont understand, the themes part anyway.

any thing else u need ideas for.

why dont you include the best quotes from the films.

I vote for

The Flowers are still standing.

dickless

january the 1st. ’ Happy New year’ peter venkman GB2.

another date, ill get back to you on, is the massive sponge migration, egon

if october has Halloween fans pics, september would require to have pictures of uncompleted packs and fans freaking out…

If doing a fan costume or prop theme page it should just be a collage. Focus on one person, group, or someone’s prop might spark elitism accusations. Overall a good idea for a community project. I’d love to see it done with really rare photos from the movies.

HAAAAAAAHAhHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA I like it!!! That or Pics of AJ, Irri’s, Exorays and ect faces when the newbs send them an e-mail wanting to buy or rent a pack leading up to halloween

I think it would be really sweet to have some artistically inclined fans use their skills to recreate their favorite scene from the movies/toons/comics/etc. or make up a scene, but do it in their own repsective style. Then you pick the 12 best ones and use those for the 12 months of the year and use the next best runners up for the inside covers or like where some calendars have a page that has extra months or other things. I have a few spider-man calendars that even have a page at the beginning that has stats and pics of all the main spider-man characters. They also have small turn-around views of a different character on the unused day spaces in every month. Maybe for the art featured that month, the artist could also do a single character profile type thing for the boarder around the days.

If you check out any of the comicbook style spiderman calendars from the last few years, those, I think, are good examples of how I would picture it.

I don’t know, I would just rather see something a little different. I’m sure we’ve all saved or printed out more rare GB pics than you can shake a stick at thanks to this site. I would like to see more fan generated material, whether it’s the actual fans (various teams, people, etc.) or stuff made by fans (art, props, etc.). I love seeing other people’s takes on the GB world artistically too, so that’s why I’m kind of hoping for that sort of thing.

It’d be cool to have any sort of GB calendar at all though, I guess.

Right on Jack Ivy–this is kinda what I was saying in another thread, the art idea gives the calendar continuity, and isn’t the re-hashed, seen it all before photos we all know of . Of course all the art would have to be donated. That problem would be solved by the fact that any gb fan artist would jump at the chance to get their work published. Feature different art styles for variety (comic, computer rendered, realist, etc) I have great idea for a pastel, but not enough time to complete enough for the time frame discussed. It’s an exciting project-this calendar. Perhaps someday.

Well.

I need submissions guys… and I need them in less than 2 weeks.

If I did a pastel, I’d have to email it to you in a jpeg or png format. To mail a pastel would require fixatives, and I don’t use them because it ruins the color. It’s a rush job, but the opportunity would be too cool to pass up. Would you accept entries in digital format?

Digitally is the only way.. the larger the better.

alright, I’ll get started tomorrow, and I’ll start a wip thread, and if it doesn’t get picked, at least I’ll have something to put in my fan art section on my profile here.

question: Considering my picture is rectangular, would a horizontal, or vertical format fit within the calendar better?

or would it be square? Or do you know yet? It will help compose the picture.
