Ghostbusters Fans Now Powered By Google Checkout

After more than 10 years doing business with PayPal, they have decided to terminate Ghostbusters Fans’ merchant account and seize our funds. We had done thousands of successful transactions with PayPal over the years, and have never had a chargeback or unresolved dispute (in fact disputes almost never happened). Despite that PayPal determined we were a “high risk” and decided to “part ways” with Ghostbusters Fans. What this means for you is that we will no longer be able to sell items using PayPal, and in some cases we will no longer be able to carry parts from our suppliers that were paid for with PayPal. We discovered that due to PayPal’s control and market share that ultimately it is wrong to support a payment system that can frankly do whatever they want. It’s important not to rely on PayPal for anything, as a seller or a buyer. After sharing our news with others, we found that this was not unusual for PayPal to do, and countless Ghostbusters Fans have had money seized and their accounts at PayPal terminated against their will.

If you are able close your account voluntarily at PayPal, we strongly urge you to do so. If you are selling items on Ghostbusters Fans, we recommend accepting Money Orders or an alternative form of escrow payment. Sellers should make options available to buyers that don’t require PayPal’s involvement. If you are buying items from sellers on Ghostbusters Fans, we recommend using a method that is not PayPal and demanding alternative payment methods from your seller. Keep in mind that eBay is almost exclusively linked to PayPal and by using eBay you are almost certainly stuck with PayPal.

Now for the good news…

Ghostbusters Fans has successfully teamed up with Google Checkout to provide you with quick and easy payments for the items and features you love at Ghostbusters Fans. You will now be able to pay directly with your credit card and live without the fear and hassle of a PayPal account.

It was working till dickless here turned off the paypal account…

^^,

i guess i should work that its a great move. I think that it will only make things better for purchases. bc that post was so towards the paypal people and not aj… haha

so dumb paypal is

WTF?!?! What brought this shit on? Did some ■■■■■■■■■ who has a beef with you decide that complaining to PayPal was the way to go? Unless you say otherwise, it sure feels like it.

I’m a big proponent of Google Checkout. I use it for Flim Fest’s ticket sales and a growing amount of my online transactions.

PayPal is a corrupt system and the more site that turn away from it the better.

It’s entirely possible that someone did do that. Due to the fact that (to my knowledge) Aj has no licensing agreements with sony that allows him to make money off of the ghostbusters name which is what he’s done for a long time. I’m not bashing or anything its strictly a guess. I say this because i know several people on other sites who have been hit in the same way due to selling copy righted materials through message boards or eBay and they have just made way to much money. I dunno i could be entirely wrong and I hope that i am. I’ll continue to use pay pal until they decide to come after me for…whatever reason. For now I’m making money with it so I’m not complaining.

It is entirely possible that Sony its self is tightening down on its copy rights due to the possibility of gb3 being closer than ever to be completed. Saban has done this recently with the power rangers franchise because he’s attempting to do a complete reboot of the franchise.

Uhh. No.

Next time you should think before you post.

And good luck with your account. Its only time until the Naz- I mean… PayPal comes after you.

I haven’t done anything to warrant them coming after me but i’ll keep my guard up. It sucks that this happened man. I meant no offense It was an honest guess judging by the goings on of other sellers/merchants that I know on other forums.

Foom is it really that good of a service? I haven’t ever heard of it until now?

I never liked Paypal.

They did something to two of my accounts.

I have one currently, with like 2 $ in it…

And I try to avoid it if I can.

EVEN then, I hardly ever sign into Paypal. And only use pre-paid credit cards to pay through them.

I always ask when buying from people if they will take money order, or electronic transfers first.

Sorry, I read this thread and posted before I saw the other one. Strike my question. You know me, always wondering what really prompted something to happen.

It’s basically the same service, but they charge less and have a far better track record. Google also spells things out in plain site without any sort of hidden fees. Check some service comparisons.

Will do  thanks man.

PayPal has been applying this shady practice for at least 5-6 years. I’ve seen some cases where their reason was because the site’s e-commerce shop experienced too much rapid growth and they had to freeze the account because they feared the site owner wouldn’t be able to keep with demand (so maybe a lot more people are buying things on GBFans?). Regardless, I imagine the current PayPal Acceptable Use Policy was rewritten to legally give them free reign to take whatever action they want to.

But that aside, great to see Google Checkout was chosen as the new payment option. I’ve tried both and Amazon Payments and I’d have to say that Google Checkout is the most streamlined (I really like the layout they have for checking your purchases and tracking orders) but nowadays I use Amazon to buy a lot. It’s a real Catch-22 between those three, imo.

So long as you can get the money you had in paypal released and paid (in full) to your account and using google check-out is nice and simple (and I’m sure it is) then I fully support this!

I don’t sell a lot (or regularly) for that matter but I’m certainly going to open up a google account to keep my options open when buying and to give buyers a choice when purchasing anything I offer!

Yeah i always knew there was something iffy about paypal, my account supposedly kept getting hacked into and kept ending up frozen until i had to make a call to them to confirm that no one but me uses the account this has happened 5 TIMES!!!

I was gonna sign up for a **GOLD SUPPORTING MEMBERSHIP **how do i do that now???

Do you still tae international orders? I just this:

"Ghostbusters Fans does not ship to this address via Google Checkout

You do not currently have any valid delivery methods."

Is that true?

Just a heads up…it still says you accept paypal on the shop page.
