Our PayPal account was put into limited access mode today. So until further notice GBFans will not be accepting PayPal transactions. That means Supporting Memberships and Shop sales will be put on hold. We are working to clear up this issue with PayPal, but there is a possiblity that PayPal will no longer be used to handle GBFans’ transactions.
Their loss. Have you considered Google’s alternative?
Sorry man. That really bite the big one..
Figures as much since i put in a small order yesterday lol
I hate paypal. They really love to put random holds on peoples accounts for no good reason. You probably won’t want to or need to but from my expierience while working with my friends ebay business, having multiple paypal accounts helps in a situation like this. One time they randomly froze one of our accounts with over $30k in it for 2 months, No explanation for it either.
I hope your problem is resolved soon for gbfans sake. Good luck AJ!
That was the explaination of why they locked me out. I started a PayPal account for the PKE Surge website 6-7 months ago, and since I already had one they shut both down. (Even though the PKE Surge one hadn’t been used).
So if we have pre ordered the real gb minimates will the sales still go through ?
Yes. That money was already paid.
This applies to new sales only.
That blows. I was facing the same thing, but I gave them a call… or four… and they were able to clear everything up. Paypal is so frakkin handy it’d be a shame to lose that possibility. I know that I have made a purchase or two, or three through paypal to the GBfans store and everything went pretty smoothly. Hope all is well… I’d like to see GBfans stay with Paypal… If you switch to something new will I still be able to pay with my credit/ debit card???
Argh I hope this gets resolved ASAP… i need to renew my membership for this website soon
Paypal is convenient but damn they are bastards sometimes.
I tried to restart"/and then start a new" account at paypal but they have the weirdest Verifying system I’ve ever dealt with. I wish other banking companies would get in the game so Paypal wouldn’t be so much like a tyrants of online banking.
So far a call into PayPal customer service has yielded nothing.
I used the number to call in, and the code they gave me online. It kept transferring me to a number that was disconnected. Classy. Eventually I called the number and just started speaking gibberish. The automated system dropped me out to a “customer service” representative who treated me like a ■■■■■■. Literally. She said Didn’t you read the email we sent you? What didn’t you understand about it..
Eventually I got away from her and into the specialized part where they look at account limitations. I got someone who was more friendly, but also kinda played dumb. She also referred to the email, and then I read from the email “I have 14 days to appeal.” and explained further. Her reaction was kinda like.. Oh... She placed a note in my file for someone else to review..
Here is hoping.
That being said, I have been thinking about switching from PayPal for quite sometime. Potential canidates include Google, Amazon, and direct Credit Card processing. That being said, not having a PayPal account severely limits my abilities. I would not be able to sell on eBay nor buy on eBay. Its a big problem.
You should continue to call them repeatedly, probably twice a day even. Otherwise it’ll just sit until the 14 day appeal has expired.
ghey wtf. all i use is paypal, ive never heard of googles alternative
God, that sucks, AJ. I was in a similar boat a few years ago, but thankfully the matter resolved itself. The problem is that there really is NO alternative to PayPal. It may seem like there are alternatives - you mentioned Google, Amazon, and direct Credit Card processing - but let’s face it, if you want to buy and sell online, there is no alternative to PayPal! It’s really sad that such a ■■■■■■ company has such a monopoly. If they didn’t have such a monopoly, maybe, just maybe they’d be forced to actually TRY to provide good customer service; but since they don’t have to, they don’t bother to. It only makes matters worse that they’re owned by the largest personal commerce website in existence: eBay.
It’s for reasons like what you’re going through that I NEVER keep money in my PayPal account. If I get money for selling an item (I sell through my website, never through eBay), I use it to pay for online postage (I buy it through PayPal so they have a record that I shipped the item to the buyer), and then immediately transfer the rest to my bank account, or use it to buy something online. I never keep it in my PayPal account for any extended period of time.
For buying items, I use PayPal as a pass-through for my debit card (as long as I jump through MANY hoops to avoid it being done as a bank transfer), as I don’t give out the debit card info online anymore after twice getting unauthorized charges on it. The money literally passes through PayPal to the seller, but never rests in my PayPal account. If a refund is given by the seller, it goes back to my debit card through PayPal (as long as I did a card transfer, and not a bank transfer).
I don’t know if anything that I do will be of use to the way you do business, but I figured I’d tell you how I do things in case there’s anything in that advice that’s useful to you.
One of the reason I never became a supporting member was Paypal. Same goes with buying from ebay after 2005. Amazon is a much better company to deal with. I have bought countless stuff from they auction market and it was always a Win Win.
If you need a new Paypal account, open a business account at a bank. Then open the new account in the name of that business.
I read something about how you should have your money stored in a bank account twice removed from Paypal, as well.
Ok thanks hope you sort it out soon

I always do.
PayPal > Checking > Savings.
I also have a PayPal Debit, and PayPal Credit Card.
I received an email today saying that my “Appeal was denied.” I have yet to read a story online where an appeal wasn’t denied. They claim that my account is “High Risk” even though I have had thousands of trascations, and have never had an unresolved dispute. (and I think only 1-2 disputes as a seller, ever).
I am working on switching over to Google Checkout. But I also will not accept this. I need a PayPal account to buy stuff. I will not take this laying down. I have a phone directory of everyone at PayPal and will hunt and peck until I find the right person whose job isn’t to talk down to their customers.
