Hey there everyone! I was just re listening to all the vinyls I had of Ghostbusters (since I’m a DJ and all) .. the UK and North American ones.. and out of all the different mixes of the song .. I’ve pretty much pieced out from where each mix is used in the movie!
The Radio Edit (that everyone knows) is used in the opening title sequence!
The Searchin’ Mix from the UK vinyl is used at the part after they catch slimer and leave (when we see them doing a bunch of jobs and what not).. you can tell by the percussion and vocal arrangement.
The UK Extended Mix (again from the UK single) was used as the final scenes closing Ghostbusters theme right at the end of the movie. You can tell cause this mix is much bassey-er than the others.
Just thought I’d write about this .. incase there are people who enjoy the theme a lot and always wondered why some parts sounded a bit different!
Man so many different versions of this song and it seems like all of them were used in the first movie. I’m not sure which one I like the best though. They all have their strengths. They all have their weaknesses, too. I can’t stand that cowbell lol. I have a fever… oh never mind!
Does anyone know if an alternate mix was used for the RGB opening sequence? I was watching an episode just today, and noticed the theme song was, well…f*ckin rocking. It seemed like the guitar was WAY up in the mix, and the distortion on that opening riff seemed much fuzzier, damn near electro-clash status. It could have just been because I hadn’t listened to it through the nice speakers out here in my living room, but it seemed significantly different than any other mix I’ve heard…
There is kind of a slightly tinny, echo-y vibe to it…I don’t know. It just seems “punchier” than the other mixes, like someone played with the levels to make it sound more exciting and appropriate for a kids show theme or something…
