"Giving back with The Real Ghostbusters" - A 40th anniversary celebration

Saturday Morning Cartoons United and Ghost Corps have partnered to present a special charity event benefitting Starlight Children’s Foundation, to coincide with the 40th Anniversary of The Real Ghostbusters:

Giving back with The Real Ghostbusters - A 40th anniversary celebration

Scheduled to take place at Dynasty Typewriter (Hayworth Theatre, 2511 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, California) on Saturday 3rd of October at 2:00pm (doors open at 1:00pm), the event will see a reunion of series regulars Maurice LaMarche and Laura Summer, alongside voice acting legend and Real Ghostbusters guest artist Jim Cummings for a special live script reading.

Jim Cummings will also be joining The Flux Capacitors in a performance of the show’s theme song.

The event will also feature a special screening, additional guests and more. In-person tickets are $22.99, and those who can’t attend the event will be able to access a pay-to-view livestream here for $15: LINK

I know at least one dude who will be there. My roommate used to work at Dynasty, should be a fun event.

Anyone go to this?

The unrelated Youtube live stream started with 4 hours of mostly interviews which were pretty great and hopefully will be uploaded after. Craig and Troy were great hosts (even if chat suspected these were prerecorded - which did seem likely as a “live” video stream replayed at one point). The stream itself seems to not include the S2 episodes, which is kinda funny tbh but hasn’t detracted from the event. I spotted @michaelt in the chat. Anyway, it’s a really cool format / model for future fan engagement.

Yes, I was there off and on on Saturday. I missed the start because I had to pull an all nighter at work and went to sleep around 5 am. So yeah, I hope they upload the interviews to so I can watch them for the 1st time, heh.

And now we celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Real Ghostbusters by streaming S5 Ep18 “The Ghostbusters Live from Al Capones Tomb” on a loop for 36 hours!

This event is actually in a few weeks on Oct 3rd.

My bad. Helps if I actually read things - just assumed it would coincide with this weekend.

Phil LaMarr and Laraine Newman have joined the cast for “Giving Back with The Real Ghostbusters: A 40th Anniversary Celebration” and LaMarr will voice Winston Zeddemore.

That script reading sounds fun. I’m curious if it will be an unproduced script for the series like the one at fan fest was going to be.

Kevin Mangold will portray Slimer in-costume at the event!

Derek Mears will voice Boogieman.

Maurice LaMarche and Laura Summer will reprise their roles as Egon and Janine, while Phil LaMarr will play Winston, Jonah Ray will voice Ray, and Rob Schrab will voice Peter. Eric Bauza, Laraine Newman, Jessica DiCicco, Aaron LaPlante, and Brock Powell will provide the voices of the Carter children, their parents, and other characters. It will be a live read of The Boogieman Cometh.

I guess rights is a nightmare but a shame there wasn’t some sort of remaster/upscale blu-ray release of some eps for this anniversary. Seems the technology is there.

This event is cool though. Getting the cast back together is a treat for fans.

Event was a lot of fun! But I’m curious…anyone have any info as to why Jim Cummings was a no-show?

The clip looked good but I’m pretty broke right now. Is it worth the $15 stream? Obv for charity but I am Mondo-broke.

Here’s a reel from the event.
