Goal #2: Improve the Reference Section.

I tweaked AJ’s Roof Rack PDF to incorporate Loren’s measurement changes. Tell me if anything is off, and I’ll change it in correction.

(I hope it’s alright that I tweaked your file AJ)…

Close…

Okay, based of your pictures… the front legs are 4" and the height is 9" instead of 10"… The back legs are 3 3/4"… Anything else? Is the Radome pole still 28"? If there is anything else I will continue to modify until I get it right.

55"+17"=72", you need to change the front overhang to 19". I didn’t measure the height of the tower because I got distracted so we’ll have to go with that height. The 55" is to the outer side of the pegs, not the inside.

Measurement on the original plan was taken inside of the legs. So you add the extra 2 inches for the beam than extends into the legs and you get an overall measurement 74"… So the 55 is measures from outside end to outside end of main base correct instead of the 55 from inside to inside?

19" in the overhang… 55" for the box… Is this better? If there is anything else I should change, just let me know.

Or is this one better…

I also made a draft of the ladder… Again, tell me what needs fixed and I’ll correct it.

Yep, looks good to me!

I do have one question about the ladder… it is 5 feet overall, made with 1" Square Tubing… Each step has 11" in between. However after you add everything up you get 5ft 1in (61")… instead of 60. Is one of the sections smaller than the others?

Do we have a measurement for where the Ladder attaches to the roof rack? And measurements of where everything is positioned on the roof.

I will work on measurement sheets for the rest of the components. Do my part to help get the Reference Section up.

The only measurements we have for the ladder are from Thiago. The Roof rack is centered left to right, and the front pegs are bolted to the roof cross-member that’s in the middle of the of the back doors. GHS2054 is marking photos with the measurements I gave him. Hopefully he’ll post them soon. As for the ladder, I think the top section is the one that is smaller than the rest.

Here is what I came up with, I got the radome stand as close as I could, I will change it when we have more accurate measurements.

I believe Kris’s plans as well as Thiago’s. My rack was made from Sean’s wooden mockup and the top of it ended up being a bit too wide from the rack to how far it sticks out from the car. It should stick out just enough to clear the plumber’s tube. Mine sticks out a bit too far, I could almost fit a second plumber’s tube in that gap.

I revised the ladder… The top section is actually slightly smaller than the rest.

Doesn’t the ladder have an angle on in, or does it attach to the roof rack at a 90 degree angle…

It has a slight angle to it.

Say 100 degrees instead of 90? Or we could just say bend to fit…

It might be slightly more than that. There’s a way to figure it out using geometry or trig since it’s a triangle.

I could figure it out if I had a straight on picture of the side… I’ll continue to work until I get it.

I came up with 105 degrees…

this look right to everyone else?
