Gozer vs. Vigo.

Just wondered what you guys thought. I liked both villians in both movies but always been more partial to Gozer. But having watched GB2 for the millionth time, Im starting to like Viggo more and appreciating his powers.Viggo looked more bad ass than that model chick. But I would think that Gozer would be more powerful since Gozer is a god and Viggo was a man who had magical abilities. Still, it would be intersting to see those 2 go at it. I would put my money on Gozer because as i said earlier, Its a god. How bout the rest of you? Who do you think or would want to win?

Vigo*

G0zer would whup his ass.

Gozer. Mainly for the exact reason you mention; demi-god vs. magician.

Plus honestly, it took crossing the stream to reverse the flow through the gate to get rid of Gozer vs. people singing.

That’s not to say Vigo wasn’t a threat. Just in a direct comparision, I think Gozer wins.

Gozer would win, but I am a Vigo fan. So I am pulling for him lol!

I also love the Vig’s but as Egon said Gozer can be whatever it wants to be and as Vigo was never at full power in GB II he had to use Yanosh…even Stantz as a last resort to rule the world.so yes Gozer.. :whatever: but then again if Vigo was at full power and not stuck in a Painting it could be a different story in my book.

This is getting interesting. I wasnt expcting to many people to be routing for vigo.

GB1 scares me a lot more than GB2 so I’m rooting for Gozer.

VIGO

A container of paint thinner could defeat Vigo.

I mean, seriously, come on. Regardless of your personal feelings about these two antagonists, logically demi-god beats a sorcerer every time.

I agree Kevin. It still would be cool to see them go at it. Or maybe even team up…That would be a good short story or comic. I might have to see if I can do something like that.

Gozer is the stronger of the two, but I’m a Vigo man. There’s just something about him.

Not sure if this has been brought up before now – but this thread got me thinking – The differences in the need for external power to accomplish their respective goals. Gozer needed a massive influx of spiritual energy for the gates to open. Besides the sex ritual used to physically unlock the door, Gozer needed the slowly rising level of PK Energy in New York to fuel the gateway. When the storage facility blew, it released enough PKE back into the environment for Gozer to use. The temple was built with the soul purpose of using that PK Energy to bring about Gozer’s return.

Now Vigo, on the other hand, seems to have stumbled upon an energy source that could be used to bring about his return. (If you take the video game as canon) Ivo Shandor had built the slime refinery and tunnels under New York as a way of fueling Gozer’s return. But with Gozer vanquished, the tunnels remained unused. The arrival of Vigo’s painting may have acted as a catalyst. His spirit infused with the painting, began siphoning the negative energy of the slime flowing directly under the museum. He was the beneficiary of circumstance – using a system designed for another purpose to fulfill his own needs. He simply took advantage of Gozer’s misfortune.

I think had his painting not been brought to the museum he would not have been a threat to anyone. And as far as predicting his own return with the “Death is but a door, Time is but a window – I’ll be back” quote – well, hell, what evil villain wouldn’t say that?

Just a thought

Vigo: I, Vigo, the scourge of Carpathia, the sorrow of Moldavia, command you.

Gozer: Are you a god?

Vigo: (Looks at Janosz) No.

Gozer: Then, DIE!

Gozer would definitely win. Demi god VS magician. Nuff said.

To be honest, I would have to go with Vigo.

[Janosz] Do you know who this is???!! [/Janosz]

Gozer hands down

Money is on Gozer, but I am still a Vigo fan! :angryvigo:

Depends. I’m kind of curious. What all would Vigo be capable of doing?

We know many of Gozer’s powers and capabilities. Shapeshifter with gargantuan results. Electrical pulses projected from hands at will. Nimble little minx, Gozer is agile and has the ability to leap quite high. Without further evidence can’t constitute actual flight, so gravity does still work on Gozer. Telepathy, Gozer obviously got the information from Ray to change into Stay Puft this way since Ray didn’t actually speak out his choice. Teleportation, Gozer decided instead of taking a blast from the Proton stream to teleport/fade out (then commanded the GB to CHOSE!).

Okay, that’s enough. Now then… Vigo. Hmmmm… Telekinesis, he could move tables and conduit tubing at will. He has the ability to force his enemies to kind of not move, so long as he can concentrate without those ***holes in NY singing. Would that still fall under Telekinesis? Yeah, probably. Hypnosis and Possession to manipulate people to his will. Pyrokinesis, set all those pictures on fire.

Sadly I think the problem to this quandary is that we never got to see a full-fledged Vigo at level 9000. He never fully possessed the baby Oscar so all of his showing of power must have been very diminished. Who knows what else he could have possible been capable of if he FULLY returned to this world in a new body. To put it another way, we know how powerful Sauron is in LotR because of that little bit we saw of the physical him at the beginning of Fellowship. Well it’d be like asking who’s stronger Opponent X or Sauron… as the flaming eyeball on top of Barad Dur. Sure he has influence and is still dangerous, but it’s not really the whole Sauron you know he’s capable of being. Same thing with Vigo. We never really got to see the whole potential of him and his abilities.

I mean say what you will about Gozer being a demi-god. But remember. That’s a lower-case g. That’s very important to keep in mind. Orpheus, demi-god, killed by a group of women. Phaeton, demi-god, killed by Zeus. Heracles, demi-god, killed by a pyre. Gozer, demi-god, possibly killed by the total protonic reversal.

Well if Shandor could take it to Gozer maybe Vigo has a chance.

And seeing if they fought in our realm Gozer would be in The Destructor form aka Stay Puft. So if Gozer was Stay Puft and Vigo had a body that would be a fun fight to watch and I would say Vigo would win in our realm.
