Greetings! new GB Fan on the block!

I’m new to the GBF Forum, but have been posting over at Ghostbusters.net.

After watching a few of the episodes of RGB I picked up from Time Life and being an avid board gamer, I decided to create my own custom Ghostbusters board game. It’s using components from Horrorclix, Zombies!!!, and games from my youth. I’ve created a blog to track my progress. However, I’ve recently taken a break. I’ve been pushing myself a bit too hard lately along with work in general. Although my most recent post seems discouraging, I assure you I’ll be back at it soon.

Let me know what you’re thoughts are! Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site!

The board game is AWESOME. Please don’t give up on it!

OMG that is the smartest idea ever.

wow! That is cool! Do you have little game peices or is it a card game??

A little of both. I’m using the figures from Horrorclix to represent the GB’s and popular ghosts. The tiles from the Zombies!!! game serve as the gameboard, while the zombie figures represent your average goblins, spooks, ghouls, etc.

I’ve created a play mat for each character to keep track of how many traps, ghosts captured, and life/proton energy you have. If a player fails to capture a ghost, he is slimed and can move one less space on their next turn. There are also event cards that can drastically effect gameplay- like a leak in the contaniment unit, causing your ghosts to escape and item cards to help you capture ghosts, or move around the board.

Each ‘popular ghost’ (Saumheim, Boogie Man, Terror Dog, etc) are worth different points and each of them has a special ability which makes them harder to catch, while the ‘average ghosts’ are worth one point each. The player with the most points after capturing all the ‘popular ghosts’ on the board (13 of them) wins. I’m factoring in a way to battle Stay Puft as well. The original Stay Puft toy from the RGB line is perfect scale with the board and the figures. The starting square contains the Johnny Lighting Ecto-1. It’s coming together quite nicely. I just need the gameplay mechanics to be cemented down…
