It’s been bothering me of late that the RGB theme is so awesome and so lost forever. I have been wondering what to do about it and I have a great solution… let’s re-create it. Seriously, lets start from scratch and make a damn good knock off of it.
I’m going to be first to volunteer my services. I’ll play synthesizers.
To start, by Monday - I’ll post the drum track and the bass groove track. (it just so happens I own the very gear they used so it will sound spot on.)
Then I’ll need somebody who rocks at guitar to use the track and record a new track of guitar.
Then somebody who maybe plays sax can fill in the sax parts.
Then… and this is a long shot - maybe one of you out there happens to have that “john smith” voice and can provide the vocals.
What do you all think? Let’s take the theme back!
I really think we can make a next to perfect version that will truly be ours.

Okay, I thought to make things easier and to get this project kick started I would post links to segments of the RGB theme for reference in recreating it!. I will have the Drum and Bass segments of the entire song done by Monday.

Holy crap dude, the theme from the promo sounds great already with the sound effects. I would offer to help, but my skills are mainly drumming (been playing for about 12 years), but it sounds like you’ve got that down. I play a little guitar too, but I’m sure there are people here that are FAR more talented at that than me. If there’s anything else I can do to help though, let me know! If it comes down to it, I can play the ryhthm guitar part pretty well.
I was supposed to post my backing track today for this project but sadly, I didn’t get it done! I got another cold over the weekend so will instead get it done by the weekend!

Actually, after reading through this post’s comments I feel like this project has been misunderstood. So just to clarify:
I am re-creating the RGB theme using my own equipment. I feel confident I can get it very close or positively identical. I am looking for help with guitar playing, saxophone and vocals. Samples posted on this page are from the original “john smith” version and are for REFERENCE only to help anybody who wants to help get their parts just right! Anybody interested? I REALLY want to do this… and I mean REALLY… so anybody with musical skills please offer your help!
Don’t know how much progress you’ve made, but I just wanted to point something out. If you watch this video of the Halloween Door special episode opening in High Quality, I think it’s probably the best quality version of the RGB theme that’s out there right now. You can hear alot of little things more obviously that may not have been noticed before. Then again, I don’t know what the quality is like for the promo or the other episodes on DVD. However, I have this episode recorded on VHS, and just between the that and other VHS recorded episodes I have, the better quality and brilliance of the sound is very noticeable. Check it and see for yourself!
Yeah, I noticed that too. When I was younger and didn’t know about the promo, I’d have marathons searching through my VHS tapes for whatever episodes had those scenes from the halloween opening in them, and I’d get frustrated, thinking my parents had actually missed taping some of them because I’d never find them. Good times…
Okay folks, I’m back! Sorry for the delay with this project. I have been REALLY out of it for about 2 months. I got a nasty ear and throat infection that couldn’t be treated by Antibiotics so I have been barely getting by recently - just making it to work each day has been my full time focus. I think now I am getting better (fingers crossed or something) and can finally continue some of these projects!
Just wanted to post an update. I’d say for the time being forget about this until I can get my s**t together.

If I can actually HEAR the sound files, it would be good. However, this is a very good project! I think I sound a bit like John Smith. If you want me to participate, I would be very happy to.
