Well, all in all, no signifigant damage to the equipment. Actually, most of it happened at home before going out.
*Leg hose grommet popped off after getting only slightly snagged going down the stairs.
Resistor on right side of trap popped off while bending over in the kitchen.
*Ion rod (which has a reputation on my pack for unreliability) popped off and hit the club floor after getting grazed by a dancing chick.
So nothing terrible. What happened to yours?
You know, it actually amazes me how many people think they can walk up to me and start TOUCHING the gear or myself. Two seconds into a nightclub, and some girl walks up and starts fucking with the switches on my gun. It turned my cyclotron and powercell lights off. My gf had to come over and turn them back on for me, but good thing my woman didn’t see the girl do that, cuz there woulda been a rumble. I think I did a good job keeping the gear out of harm’s way though, because once I got loaded inside with six quick beers, I stayed out on the street for most of the night, realizing the physical limitations in a exponentially populating nightclub.
Oh, and I did survive about 7-8 black guys all swarming around me excited that I was a “too official ghostbustah”
They were REALLY, REALLY amped and excited. Like, jumping up and down and screaming. I thought, “if my gear makes it through this, I’ll go skydiving with it on.”
Some one bumped into the back of my wife’s and so,how it knocked the thrower off, and it hit the floor. The light in the end stopped working, it cracked the base of it, and put a crack in the clear part. My stay puft costume got repeatedly groped and humped by both men and women, so it had some odd colored stains on it…Not to mention we went to a costume party, to get beat out by a store bought costume of a old man and women with there stuff sagging down to the floor. Our night was a disaster. There was some really awesome costume there that night. and not one of the Handmade ones got anything…It was BS
I made it through with very very minimal damage. I lost one of the “gun ears” and a wire from my battery connector broke loose, I still had lights but lost sound. easy fix though
Had the crank knob knocked off, disappeared behind the bar somewhere but was fortunate enough that the bartender recognized it and returned it. Easy fix. Otherwise, for being crammed in a crowded bar no other damage was sustained and people were respectful enough not to touch.
The costume contest on the other hand, was damaging to ego and pride. Lost to a guy dressed as Jeannie from ‘I Love Jeannie’ and a dude dressed as Tiger Woods.
speaking of losing bar costume contests, a female friend of mine dressed as Frank N Furter from Rocky Horror Picture Show, went all out with with her costume, makeup & hair, looked exactly like him - and she lost to a guy in a store bought hot dog costume. makes no sense.
It just tells me originality is dead. People don’t vote for quality, they vote for anything that is outrageous or “hip”. Hell, I thought Ghostbusters would’ve been a shoe in since it seems like everyone is doing it these days. :lol:
The only fix that came out of this year involved the connector I have to hold the gun hose in the Pack unscrewed itself, a little glue and it’ll be sorted.
I thought I’d also wrenched the wiring for my Pack lights out of place when the battery box fell away from the Pack, but on the train into London I did a test, and could see the blue glow from the Power Cell… thankfully no damage.
I was surprised I made it through without damage. One guy screamed “great job man!” and proceeded to slam his hand into the pack in what I can only assume was an attempted pat on the back.
My v-hook on my pack came loose about half way through Sunday and I had to remove it, place it in my pocket, and walk around the rest of the day in NYC with the gun hanging from my belt. No one knocked me or anything, I just should have done a better job attaching it.
On the 3/4-scale build for my son, the rear handle came off the thrower (for the second time). Bad engineering on my part -I’ll have to figure out a better way to attach it.
The weekend started out very bad and then ended great. On Friday while I was entering the club my Gun and Cyclotron fell and crashed on the ground. I had to pick up all the pieces at the front door and haul then to my car. No one in line offered to help me. I ended up going in the club with no Proton Pack at all. Not one person talked to me or asked to take photos with me. My friend was dressed as Mad Hatter and didn’t have a free moment all night because everyone was taking pictures with him. He won first prize which was well deserved because his costume was awesome.
After the club I spend all Saturdat fixing and reinforcing my pack. Went out Saturday night and HUGE difference. People would not stop talking to me or ask to take pictures. I am convinced that the proton pack makes the costume. Everyone loved the lights. The only damaged that night was some guy walked right into me and slammed into my pack and knocked my ion arm and power cell off. Didn’t even stop to say I’m sorry. Just laughed and kept walking. Luckly I had a glue gun in my car and the owner of the club I went to allowed me to glue everything back together. Saturday turned out to be a great evening considering the minor damaged to my pack. I fixed it when I got home.
Sunday was awesome. My pack held up well all evening. I missed the costume contest by a few minutes and after the contest a worker at the club asked me why I didn’t enter the contest. I told him I arrived at the club late. (Was taking pictures outside with just about everyone) He said I would have won. The only damaged that night was at the end of the night. I stood in a corner so no one would bump into my pack and some drunk guy decided it was better to squeeze behind me then walk in front of me where there was plenty of room. He broke my injectors. At that point I was upset, I walked up to him I said that he could of at least said he was sorry. He just looked at me with a blank face. I didn’t let it ruin my awesome evening. All minor repairs were fixed this morning. By the way, I built my pack from scratch within 2 weeks.
Meh, that’s why I sorta stay on the street. I’m an attention whore. I wasted $20 in cover charges after I’ve turned around and left, realizing it was too damn packed and the gear would get fucked.
i walked away with some minor damage. the front display on my trap popped off, causing the doors to come off as well. already fixed with some 5 min epoxy. the only other damage i had was the coil cable for the belt gizmo not only popped off the gizmo itself, but also the daughterboard. no damage to the pack, except a few scratches, which actually adds to the weathered look 8)
overall, not a bad deal. much less damage than last year.
