So every Halloween I have a party, but this year like a bunch of people I have limited resources and didn’t come up with a costume until a couple days ago when I decided to be Venkman. I’ve had a name tag, a gray jumpsuit and an ALICE pack for years, but never did anything with them until now. And I’m using all found items from around the house for the rest of my costume. So far I’m using particle board from the back of an old entertainment center, pvc from my garage and foam board from a school project.
There’s only 5 days until my party but I think I’ll finishing a decent proton pack(minus the wand) in that time. I started a couple days ago so here is what I have so far.
I’d be a bit concerned about the structural integrity of the particle board. Typically, the backings from stuff like that is incredibly weak, unless it was a particularly nice entertainment center.
Not exactly. It was just a useless one in my attic but it is pretty thick. I’m only using this as a temporary, no budget motherboard. Later I’m going to make a new motherboard and fiberglass my pack before adding a wand and a lot of detail. This is mostly a challenge for me to see what I can build in a week with only found items.

Thanks, I came up the idea for the costume when I had about 14 days but sadly got busy with Halloween commissions and stuff. Most of the work has actually been done over 3 late nights and like you said I’m running out of time! In fact I’m signing off now to get back to work. Also, I’ve changed the title to be more accurate.
I’m interested to see how far you get, I like the idea of timed challenges, probably because I’ve always been a procrastinator myself and wait until the last minute for everything lol. It’s looking good so far 
Yeah I would never get things done if I didn’t have a crunch for time. I’m just lucky that I have a garage full of useless ■■■■ that ended up fitting this project.
I’ve fixed up a few measurements and tomorrow I’ll be fiberglassing this before adding a few of the pvc pipes and things.

Thanks for the interest guys. I had my party last night and it went pretty well. I can’t believe the extent of ■■■■ I found in my garage that was perfect. The best find was a steel lobster pot I used as the cyclonotron that was nearly the perfect size.
I didn’t have time to make the gun or add the final details but I’m going to a party next weekend so that will be my project for this week. I’m also going to fiberglass it this week as well as dying my jumpsuit I hope. For now I’m waiting for some friends to send me pictures, because my camera died but when I get new batteries I’ll keep you guys updated on my progress.
