Hasbro unveils the Plasma Series Proton Pack (1984)

Under the Gear Box? That one appears to be gone, which makes sense, as that one definitely wasn’t on the '84/'89 Packs.

Yeah that does make sense, I’m sure the lot of us will find any number of other ways to modify this thing. Plus it’s one more way to set the Haslab pack apart. This is fantastic, it doesn’t feel cheep or lacking in features just the natural step down from the premium set up of the Afterlife pack.

Can someone refresh my memory but at 299.99 is this less expensive than the Haslab Spengler Pack? That price point feels cheaper but it’s been awhile so who knows? You’d think with, you know, a certain unnamed persons economic agenda, this would be more pricey than 299.99 at a 1:1.

So is this going to be a limited time thing or is this like…an actual product now? I can’t decide if I’m excited or annoyed.

Don’t get me wrong I love that other people who missed out on the Haslab can get a pack but there was something kind of cool about having Hasbro’s only official pack and that it was a limited thing. Which is still technically true about THAT specific pack but this makes it a just wee less special.

But the improvements? USB C charging? Oh baby I am there. It’s hard to believe now but if I remember correctly the Haslab pack had the proton pack to wand connection hose as a stretch goal, no? If the pack got X amount of funding they’d include the connector? Which is insane when you think about it. Imagine had they not hit that number? You’d have a pack with no wand connection. Crazy,

Maybe they’ve said and I missed it but this pack will come with a connection hose?

I wonder if they’ll keep the awesome packaging. One thing I love about the Hasbro GB stuff is the packaging is so good. They could just ship it in any old box but no they go the extra level with some storytelling. I dig that.

It is less expensive, but it’s also coming with less and doesn’t have as many parts. (Only comes with the hose as far as I can tell)

I don’t think we have that information yet, but I’m just going to assume it’ll be about as readily available as the throwers were. Mass production, but not a forever item.

I know a few people are pissed that this is being released due to the HasLab, but it’s also NOT the same as the HasLab pack. All I know is my friend is thrilled to have an opportunity to grab a pre-made pack of this quality. He wanted the HasLab, but at the time, he had a baby on the way and couldn’t swing that… how dare he (I kid, I kid). He saw the announcement on Saturday and almost wept… but then again, that could’ve been fear of impulse buying this without clearing it with his wife…

And for everyone upset with “but I spend so much time converting my HasLab into an 84/89 pack!” Yeah, well, this one will need almost as much work and part swapping to make this look movie accurate. Besides, those of us that backed the HasLab helped make THIS pack happen. There is NO WAY Hasbro would’ve put the effort to make this had the Spengler pack not been a success.

My getting one of these plans on the cut off date. I love the Spengler pack but being able to mount this on the wall and constantly have the cyclotron on is so damn tempting! If Haslab had considered allowing it to play the theme song that would have been the icing on the cake.

The Spengler Pack’s MSRP was $399.99.

Since this is a regular release and not a HasLab, it’s is likely closer to mass release than limited but if anyone is on the fence, best to still pre-order asap and keep mulling if one has to and you can cancel later should you choose to. Credit card won’t be charged until close to expected shipping in March 2026. Whereas if you wait until then to pre-order one, they might have sold out of stock.

It was the first stretch goal.

No mention, just it’s compatible to both wands. Hopefully that will come up in the next Hasbro livestream along with if an alice frame hardware kit and stand comes with it. They lurk on this forum but they gotta know we’re gonna wonder about that kind of stuff, lol.

Based on the Spengler wand and the 1984 wand, the packaging should be the same but with some slight tweaks and new easter eggs for this 84 pack’s box compared to the Spengler pack’s.

Id image its a modified version of the Spengler pack, sans the rumble feature and the Afterlife sound effects and additions. I suspect its the near identical mold for that pack with some minor cosmetic adjustments.

Im super happy they are putting this out and for a fair price. Like i said, part of me is tempted to buy 4 of them, (but then i got to get 3 more wands and i dont know where the hell id store them as i am totally out of space).

Pat from the Hasbro crew pretty much confirmed the former, but for the latter it seemed like they did some major cosmetic changes. 80% new.

Im atleast getting one of them! So cant wait!

Now i hope eventually they put out the PKE Meeter and Traps out separately for those who missed out. I have those and the Spengler Pack and they are some of my prized possessions and im dying to get my 2 Ectos at the end of this year.

If they put out the 84 meter without the taser function and improve on the EMF function, I’m all for it. I have no complaints about the afterlife PKE meter (other then the taser mode.) but I would still like to have an 84 version the same size.

Will it come with the ALICE hardware I wonder?

Good question. I’d like to know if Haslab has any plans on releasing any new versions of the slime/marshmallow attachments to go along with the packs?

Seeing as those are propriatory and would need to be created from scratch by users if not included, I would think they would be.

Yeah those weird dimpled nippled PPD discs look AWFUL. I really want to love this all they have to do is fix that and the V hook

What bugs me is the V hook is still on backwards. On the Haslab, the V hook was installed backwards at the factory even though they had it on correctly in the prototype pics. I hope they fix it.

Dont know what theyre thinking not having the 84 wand up for preorder right now as well. Im not buying a pack if i dont know if i can get an 84 wand.

Oh rest easy they will absolutely have more for sale, but you can get one right now on amazon. Bigbadtoystore too I think

So…Was not expecting that. I had thought maybe a future Haslab coming out they might do the pack and goggles or something ,but to be frank this is great news. The more packs in the market the less likely the scalpers will make and endless amount and since most hero prop builders are out of the game now…or getting sued for not ya know making packs they took money for I really liked seeing this.

As for the “look” of it. Its a haslab pack repainted with some new greebles or fresh painted ones. So…its likely gonna be a flat black and still have some weathering. I’ve heard people asking about it’s cyclotron and I don’t see that changing from the 3 lights per pens we have. The listing has it in the description that it has 25 led’s. if you have a haslab then count and it’s 25. The USB C override is nice but hopefully they keep the added empty switch under the crank box for those that use keep alives with it.

Price is good. No extra haslab goodies but honestly…lol I didn’t use any of those, mini puffs, stand, slime or marshmallow goop..eh…overall this was a nice thing to see. Just pre order, no Hasbro haslab make time window. Much less time…I hope.

the V Hook is backwards?? I never noticed on my back before I had to sell it. Did people fix it pretty easy?

Yep it’s backwards on all the finished products. If you look at the prototype pictures on the Haslab website it’s shown the right way as intended. With the entirely flat part on the outside as one would expect.

Pretty easy to fix if you take your pack apart and unbolt it from inside. Then you might have to re countersink the holes

I don’t have the Haslab pack but I’ve helped re-holster a few Haslab wands during events, never realised that the hook was backwards! I just thought it was poorly designed (which is probably why several of my franchise members have since upgraded to real V-Hooks).

It was right there in the 2021 prototype photos all this time:

By the time of the 2022 Hasbro Pulse livestream it had been flipped backwards:

And as you pointed out, it’s backwards on the new 84 pack:
