Hey EJ, I’m sorry if I missed a PM or an email from you, but things have been hectic and busy on my end, and sometimes things slip through the cracks, no offense intended. If you still need an ion arm, send me a PM and I’ll get ya taken care of. If not, that’s fine too.
Updates! Lots of updates. I’ve inadvertently neglected this thread a bit, and I’ve been posting updates regularly over on Facebook with lots of pictures. I’m mostly finishing things up now, and should actually be shipping some of these orders VERY soon!
The mold for the grips are finished, and I’ve been pouring as often as possible to get them all ready, the rear cylinders, front cylinders and thrower bodies are all finished, I just need to finish attaching the rear handles, the trigger box/instrument bars are nearly ready for their final joining welds, and the front handles and trigger tips are all cut, and just need their final welds.
Basically, all the time consuming machining, forming, refining, grinding, etc is done, and all that remains is the comparatively quick ‘visible’ welds.
I’m constantly surprised by how involved making 10 throwers at a time has been. In some ways, I think it’s been a time saver compared to making them individually, and in others it seems like it would have been better to make them in two smaller batches. I’m constantly tweaking my processes in how I make things as well, some of those tweaks save time, others do the opposite.
On previous throwers, I always spent a lot of time getting the bottom to sit properly on the body, and folding the edges was a difficult process to make everything sit evenly, so for these I made the bottom a separate piece which was welded on and ground and sanded to look folded instead. It provides a much more consistent base, and what I hoped would be a time saver, but between the time on the CNC, and grinding/smoothing the welds, it ended up taking longer. Oh well, now I know.
As I mentioned previously, I moved my shop closer to my home, but that required splitting some of my tools up. My welding and resin stuff is at home, while the saws, grinders, machine tools, CNC, and all the other messy things are at the shop, which has limited access hours, so it’s taken a bit longer to adjust to not being able to simply bounce back and forth between the welder and grinder immediately, or not be able to do welding while the CNC runs in the background. I don’t want to sound like I’m making excuses, I’m just trying to paint a better picture of why I’ve been missing those delivery expectations.
I’ll make sure to cross post updates over here more often, but I definitely recommend checking out my Facebook page for pictures of what’s done so far. I’m confident that the quality of these throwers will make up for the delays. I’m certainly not skimping on the details.

I received grips today (for umori throwers). They are worth the wait. The diameter fits perfect and they’re comfortable to wrap your hand around. Very minimal clean up on the interior, none of the exterior. For those with the same thrower, I needed to shave about 1/8" off the front grip to fit between the ear and trigger that are welded on.
Wrapping up the final pieces this week, and I’m doing final assembly and verifying a good fit on all of the pieces of each thrower before I pack them up. Orders will be going out a few at a time, as each one is finished.
Here are some pictures of the thrower ears I finished a few days back, which are now in the process of being welded to the front handles. This specific ear took 6 separate machining operations to finish, but I’m really happy with how they came out, and I think you will be too.
The hole for the screw that goes into the front grip will be threaded after the hole is followed through into the grip, so there’s no margin for error.
I’ll get a few pictures posted of the first fully finished thrower as soon as it’s ready!

The first batch went out in the mail last week, and the last few will be at the post office on Monday.
Thanks again for placing your orders, and letting me make throwers for you all. I can’t wait to hear what you think of them, and I’ve already got some great ideas on how to streamline the next batch of throwers for faster delivery.
