Help me source the orange/white high vis banding.

Anyone got any ideas where I can get the highvis tape from the GB16 movie? I’ve wanted a Ghostbusters costume since I was about five. But my fiancée saw the new movie and we decided that we want to do the London Ghostbusters for our cosplay for MCM London Comicon in October. I’m gonna go for a classic boiler suit, she wants the orange. When we do a Cosplay we go all out, really looking forward to making a couple of proton packs.

That is all I have found so far.

It might just be me but the tape looks a bit thinner on their costumes? Maybe something like this Amazon.com

you can always try a local craft or sewing store?

we went with this one, not 100 percent accurate but looks great when weathered down slightly.

One thing I’ll say is to overestimate how much you’ll need.

50.8mm is what I went with.

Looking really close at the uniforms, they actually just sewed the gray part to orange ribbon for at least some of the suits. I’m assuming it was so that the lighting didn’t just constantly reflect on the 3M tape.

Here’s a close-up of one of the suits:

When I did mine, I used 1 1/2" orange ribbon and a 5/8" silver satin ribbon (both Offray brand, from JoAnn Fabrics) and just sewed the silver ribbon straight down the center of the orange. Here’s the result (after sitting in a heap in a box for two weeks, pre-ironing):

The satin ribbon is a tiny bit wider than theirs, but the orange ribbon seems to be exactly the same size.

Do you have any large-scale photos of that trim or photos of the whole suit? I actually got those same styles of ribbon at JoAnn today, and I’m a little stuck between that grey and the same style in white. I’m concerned the grey is going to blend in with the grakhi of the fabric with which I’ll be making the coveralls.

I also got 5/8" holographic ribbon just to see how it’d reflect, and if I were going to make a burlesque version of the coveralls, I would DEFINITELY use that. Because, really.

Here’s a couple of pictures of my super wrinkled suit, one with flash and one without. I can get some better ones later, in a room that doesn’t have orange shades over the lights but hopefully this is helpful for now! The suit only has the top banding on it because we were in a huge rush to get them done and ran out of both time and ribbon. Hopefully I’ll have time to add the second layer soon. The suits I used were a little more khaki than gray, but I think that even if you had the grayer ones, the banding would be okay. When the light hits it right, it looks more white than gray.

If you use the satin ribbon, you might try it with the wrong side up for less shine.

Very cool!! Thank you so much! Is it okay if I save these in my reference photos folder?

Absolutely!

I just made a swatch like this, and it turned out REALLY nice. I was a little hesitant because I wanted it to reflect a little, but the matte side still does a little bit, and it’s not so weirdly glossy. Thanks for the heads up!! I am SUPER jazzed to get started on this.

EDITED to include a photo:

Amazon.com This already has the silver tape in it ,2 inch wide.

BONDEX IRON ON REFLECTIVE TAPE-Safety Orange (2" x 32"), Clothing, Repair, Mend This stuff is iron on no sewing required

The searches I used in google were for “glo ribbon” and “bondex ribbon”. I found some on etsy, ebay, amazon, and other sites. I used on my costume 8 yards of 2" ribbon (large jumpsuit) and 6 yards 7/8 inch ribbon (child size).
