This is very embarrassing but I need a great deal of help building a proton pack. I’ve printed up all three plans to build a pack but can’t seem to understand them when it comes to the materials to use for what part. I’m the type of person that needs it laid out in stupid terms, kinda like lego instructions, you know it show a pic of a section that you will be working on then how to build that section. If ANYONE will take their time to take me under their wing and help me build my first proton pack, I would be forever grateful.
for most of the pack its self , I use wood. you could mix it up by having different thicknesses to shave weight. its really just a personal preference, and how much you want the thing to weigh
Well Norms is the easiest to understand of all three, just take your time and read it.
I thought it would be a hassle too, since I just looked at the pictures and skimmed through it (bad idea)
Sit down, and take like 30-45 minutes to read it all.
Also, study the photos of other people’s packs (since the reference section isn’t fully operational). That way you can get a better idea of where things go and how to lay them out. Try to memorize it if you can. It also may give you some idea as to the tricks some others have used to build thiers.
Figuring it all out for yourself is one of the more fun parts of building your pack. The members of this site are here to help if you get stuck and to answer questions. Use them. But try it on your own first. You never know, you may come up with something that works much better than anyone here has thought of. And if that happens, please share.
Something that hasnt been suggested yet would be to take a look through some of the threads where people show what theyre working on and posted pictures so others can see their progress. By looking at those pictures you could get an idea of what types of materials other people have found suitable to use.
Since you sound like a beginner and might not have access to many tools, I myself would recommend picking up some blue or pink insulation foam board for most of the proton pack. It is extremely light weight, if you take your time you can actually cut it out with an exacto knife and its fairly easy to touch up things with some sand paper and body filler, spackling paste, etc… Some things it is important to make out of stronger materials like wood or aluminum, such as the gun mount or motherboard, because theyre going to be more important structurally.
