help please!...

Im doing a research paper on Ghostbusters. and my thesis question is “Why was Ghostbusters the most sucessful comedy ever?” can anyone give me some facts and also for this i need citations for this. i really need help on this bcuz everything i search for is the same like somebody is joking and saying "oh there’s a ghost, we should call the Ghostbusters. hahaha."and thats all it says about Ghostbusters. i only got 4 sources. i need 6 sources. and i need it like in maybe 6 days, but u can still give me research after that. so if help me out that would be really awesome!

Sadly what you have on your hands is an Opinion Paper, backed by research figures. I think your best bet would be to look up old reviews of Ghostbusters, and box office sales. If you get the box office sales see if you can’t caluclate inflation into it to actually prove that it’s the highest grossing comedy of all time.

Good luck, sorry I couldn’t be more help.

but everything i find only goes back to 1992, it doesnt go back to 1984

Ghostbusters is #55 on the highest grossing list of all movies. In 1984 it grossed $238,600,000. movie tickets in 1984 were roughly 3.36 per ticket. today’s average is $7.20. here is a website that will show you how much the difference is between 1984 and 2008. Lee's Movie Info - Box Office Ticket Price Adjuster . With inflation considered Ghostbusters would have grossed $501,500.00. If you visit this website http://www.hollywood.com/news/Hollywoodcoms_Highest_Grossing_Comedy_Films_of_All_Time_List/3467963 it shows the highest grossing film of all time and the conversion to today’s ticket sales and it shows Beverly Hills Cop being the highest grossing comedy of all time. But if you look at the list there is no Ghostbusters on the list and the total for Ghostbusters gross is actually 67,622.34 more than Beverly Hills Cop. Which I would assume you are right that Ghostbusters is the highest grossing comedy of all time. What would you guys say?

I’d say watch this part and the modern featurette on the DVD and maybe you can get some info from the quotes. Ramis and Ivan Reitman. Some insights into the popularity with children there above and on the DVD. I think the Slimer video above, one of the other parts, Joe Medjuck talks about the popularity/phenomenon a little bit.

Maybe that could help?!

thx guys
