I’m just about finished with my pack, I just need the sound!
The problem is, I would rather not have to deal with a lot of technical things, considering I know nothing about this stuff. I wanted to hook an ipod up to either computer speakers or I have 8 inch speakers (I’d only put one in) they are 17.5W each. My question is, how can I hook an Ipod up to either of those speakers? And how would I power them? Thank you in advance!
GBfreak can help ya with this one.
If you want to use those computer speakers just find out what the input Is after they are converted to DC and then just use the correct amount of battery’s. For the speaker you need to look around the net for a portable amp it should not be to hard but you will need kind of a big one to run that speaker. If you don’t feel like bothering with either one of these just go to the store and pick up some amplified speakers they would just need battery’s and would be plug and play. Hope this helps.
Check out Sony’s SRS-T33. They are no bigger than a bannana and pack a MIGHTY sound.

Listen to this video. It’s dark but it’s just me showing the sound system I built into my pack.
hey thanks for all of your replies. i’ve never really done any fiddling with electronics so i have no idea how to convert to dc or what dc means, haha. so if anyone could give me alittle bit of clarification on what exactly i need [parts wise]. i want to use a computer speaker and hook it up to an ipod to play sounds. how would i figure out which wires are what [like input etc]
Ok, usually the problem with speakers is that you can only plug them in and theres no spot for batteries to make it portable. Instead of going through all that trouble, the speaker I mentioned, the SONY, is about the size of a telephone, takes two tripple A batteries and is amazingly loud. I just velcroed the speaker to the back of my back right behind the cyclotron. It has the same outpout as earphones, (that little jack) I just bought an extenstion from Radioshack, ran it through my clothes right to an mp3 player (an ipod works fine). My mpp3 player was 9 bucks from CVS and I only put two sounds on it- starting up and the shooting sound. Its easy because I just hit a button and it turns on, hit it again and the shooting sound goes off. It is small enough to fit in my hand while I hold the thrower and no one can tell the difference.
how does one get the MP3’s to put on a player…the rest sounds pretty easy and a lot cheaper than getting a sound kit
I forgot the site, but if you do a search for SOUND I believe it comes up. There is a website that has all the sounds power up, power down, and two different shooting noises
Ah what the hell, Merry Christmas kid:
I had to peruse to find it so I am glad I didn’t just send you on a wild goose chase.
Not to toot my own horn but I did something similar to this but got it all self contained into the gun/pack no mp3 player in hand or speakers Velcroed I think it adds so realism with a very cheap price tag.
I’ll do it then:
TOOT TOOT 8)
I’m thinking of using a portable guitar amplifier for my sound kit.
