how does every keep the trap cartrige from slideing out without glueing or screwing it in i want it to be able to come out but i also want to hang it from my belt?
The originals used a gun hook attached to the belt on a leather / metal plate.
I think he means the trap cardridge not the holster
I’ve heared about people using a dovetail connection.
I think he’s referring to the trap cartridge AJ.
I think there was a catch inside the trap that was connected to the button at the front of the handle.
When the button was pressed the catch would be pushed down thus releasing the trap cartridge.
Hope this answers your question, if you dont understand let me know and i’ll draw something up.

yes or the sliding plates at the buttom.

For myself i never had this problem, the trap fitted so well !
You could also use the round knob on the side to hold it in place, long set screw that passes thru to put pressure on the side of the cartridge but the dovetail would be good as well to keep it from lifting. Also the trap holster strap when properly fitted holds it in place while wearing it.
Holsters:
thanks guys and yea i was talking about the holster witch i will be ordering from irri as well as the resign trap kit i thought about useing a extra long hex screw that i can tighten to hold it in if youve seen the video we got alot of smoke and a bang i want to use the conector that he used to help hold it in too i dont want to shell out a butload and the sucker crashing to the floor lol thanks again
What I’m planning on doing is to actually run a long bolt from the bottom of the trap (between the wheel axles) into the cartridge. That way, I can unbolt the cartridge if I want to disconnect it. At the same time, you’ll only be able to see the bolt form the bottom (which doesn’t matter anyways.
I used velcro to keep mine in, but you don’t want to go that route. It’s more or less just for the “look, the cartridge even comes out!” effect. I could probably make it slide in and out in a more screen-accurate manner, but I’m too lazy to get back to a project I already “finished”.
heres what i figured sorry its crappy i did it with ms paint ill use this as well as the dove tail made out of sheet metal pluss i use the pin conector for my electronics tell me what you think?
There’s a thread around here showing how this was done- and that’s exactly it.

Yea thats great. That’s how it was done in the movies.
Well atleast GB1 anyway…

i guess im going down the right road then lol ill post lots of detailed pics when i do it my gf is buying me a trap kit from irri in july for my bday w00t w00t im going to make it look real glosy so it looks like new right now i just want to get my packs done so im takeing my time and not rush it
That’s actually not how it was done on the GB1 trap. The trap used a lever to release the cartridge not a button that was pushed down. Not that you can’t do it that way if you like.
Oh… Well.. I was only relaying what I heard from Sean on Proptopia. I thought he examined the GB1 hero cartridge trap?
Lawrence
Mr namebrand, would it be possible for you to elaborate on how this was acchieve. i don’t know if you have pictures or plans of this…but i would like very interested to learn how it was achieved…
thanks in advance.
Yes, Sean made comment on Proptopia about it being exactly how it worked, but it’s a technical impossibility based on all the evidence on hand, especially since we can see the back end of the cartridge and the bent piece of metal used as part of the “hook” system to hold it in place.
The “button” on the top of the trap handle doesn’t depress, it is pulled back. It’s the top part of an L shaped lever (for lack of a better way to describe it) when you pull back on it it lifts a hook away from the bent piece of metal on the trap cartridge. The hook has to pull away from the top, not the bottom as a push button release would work. I don’t have any solid diagrams yet as I am still working it out for my all aluminum GB1 hero trap.
Sounds like a lot of work!! I’m gonna stick with the button i think!
