So you want your PKE to…hang on your belt and beep?
no, i can mute the beeping, i just want the lights on. but the thing shuts off after like a minute.
My Holster is an DeWalt Holster, I ripped the stick, for an esthetic view.
Ooooh! I like that one too!
That’s a great find.
i like that one alot better because its a symmetrical shape.
Has anyone considered a holster where the handle points up?
after viewing this thread i went over to sears and found what i think is the absolute perfect PKE holster. its craftsman but the logo is ont he front and easily marked out. im gonna get a little black paint later for it, but i just used a marker for now. all i did was make the hole bigger to fit the PKE and remove the strap and viola.

I went ot SEARS, and I’ve found a leather holster similar to the “Arsenal” one, even for a DOLLAR CHEAPER ($5.49, but it was in the system for almost $7) than the CRAFTSMAN canvas ($6.49). All it needs is to dye it black since it comes in TAN leather, but not a biggie. Just like the pics below:
Ok here are some thumbnails of my modified holster:
The logo on the top you could either dremel it out, stamp it with a rectangular shape, or simply juct cover it with the belt.
Wouldn’t that logo already have to be covered by the belt anyway?
Also, does anyone know the best way to remove the metal clip from the original fabric holster posted about here?
Its riveted on, but I’ve never tried to remove something riveted like this before.

…or simply just cover it with the belt.
I’ve said that before. ![]()

Anyway, to cut rivets…mmm… probably you need one of these; END NIPPER PLIER (varies depending on size of rivet head and post width to be cut):
If you’re talking about SNAP attachments, it’s always good to use NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS, just to reduce the “spread” inside the snap closure (male side) from the middle, which is the only section holding both parts … that way you will be able to push the backing out and release the snap closure entirely. Now, on canvas, you’d probably want to cover/support that hole with either goop, hot glue, or gluing another piece of same type/material canvas to it, so the hole doesn’t get frailed with time.
No, its not a snap attachement. The metal belt clip is riveted to the material. The resulting hole would be covered anyway since its toward the bottom, and there is a frontmost layer of cloth under the PKE. I figured I’d just put some no fray on the hole edges and call it done.
Thanks. I’ll have to look into those nippers.
Its covered by the belt and the meter so it worked out fine, Still need to make the hole at the bottom a little bit larger so the meter is more accessible.
If its the rivets on a Sears leather item, they are tough. They have a solid core which makes it hard to snip off.
Yeah they look like tough buggers. It does look though, that the over side of the rivet inside the holder is made of thinner material. Getting at that part is tougher, but it might be easier work.
For the short term, I’ll just leave it on for now, but it will have to come off eventually. The leather sears one posted a few posts back also looks nice. I might pick one of those up and see which I prefer. (The wife really likes the original one, so she’ll probably stick with that.)
mine I found on Ebay in Australia…cost me $6.00 posted…
I ended up using needle nose pliers to bend up the prongs on the other side and then just pushed it through. This was after trying to drill it out using a press and trying to dremel it.

Good to know. Odds are that’ll save me some work. I was already considering the dremel.
I managed to find a back leather holster for my pke at a local tool mart. I’m using a measuring tape hoster instead of one for a hammer because it gives it more support, and keeps it from falling out.
I decided to wear it on my belt for a star wars, stage combat performance at Genghis con 2011 (Perth Australia) just to add a bit more sci fi tech to my costume. It worked great, and didn’t fall out once. Best of all, it protects the wings from being pulled up whilst its on my belt, which I am very concerned about in crowded areas.
Can’t wait for a chance to wear it with my proton pack and everything, but this will have to do for now.
my true fandom sneaks into the mix ![]()
Nice and the odd part is that it doesn’t look that out of place Sorak.
