How tough is the GBFans shell?

Durability is a concern for me since I can be a bit of a klutz(was messing with my matty want and accidentally smacked it against my desk, no damage though) so I was wondering how tough the GBfans fiberglass shell is, since I read that the show packs from the movies were fiberglass and the stunt packs made form foam, but I imagine there have been advancements since then.

From all the pack shells I have ever seen… the GBFans shell has the best and most consistent layup of fiberglass material. It is a uniform thickness, and more importantly thick around the edges. I believe we’re the only ones to use a professional fiberglass chopper for these. Its basically similar to boat hulls, campers, fiberglass roofs, cars, bumpers.. etc.

Fairly durable. But I’m not going to recommend dropping it or smashing it into stuff either.

Neither of which is in my plan, nor do I plan to ever fall on it intentionally. Good to know it can at least possibly take a beating.

My GBFans shell held up just fine during the build process. I’ve bumped it on walls and such walking around with it to with no issues. It is actually thicker than you would think.

Alright then, I’m mulling over both this and a Studio Creations shell due to price.

My main draw to the GBfans shell is all the work done to it already, well, and and the SL looks pretty thin

You get what you pay for.

Yeah, I think I’ll be better off saving for the GBFans shell, it’ll take longer, but like you said, you get out what you put in.

I’m currently doing an sc shell right now. I had the same worry about the thickness, but its actually pretty rigid. Granted in some deep corners of it, it can be a little thin. But they are unused and worry free deep corners. Eventually ill spring for the gbfans shell. But for now, its working very well for me.

You could always start collecting all the do dads, things and whatchamacallits which can be as inexpensive as a few bucks here and there. That way you are ready to go when you can get the main shell.

A little bit ahead of you there as I already got metal L brackets from ejunth, which means I get to learn how to use a tap and die set.
