I posted this info in the hyperdyne thread, but basically, the sound board stopped working. I tracked the issue down to a loose power cable and connected it to what I thought was the right place and it worked again. Then it started faded in and out and crackling. I was worried I’d blown the speakers, but I’ve double checked them and they’re fine. Then it got to this point:
And now it puts out no sound at all. Any ideas?

Is that just “[email protected]”? I’ve already sent 3 emails that way, as the problem got worse. I HOPE there’s an easy way to fix this that doesn’t involve shelling out lots more cash. They’re sold out of these bits anyway. AND now the motor in the gun isn’t working. I think I’m going to just leave the damned thing alone for the time being, before the lights crap out on me too. At least it still LOOKS decent, but the sounds were the coolest part. And my three-year-old daughter’s been crying since she can’t dance to the music anymore. It’s been a fun day.
Okay, I won’t have a chance to definitively test this until everyone wakes up tomorrow, but it looks like my issue was nothing more than a dead/dying battery. I plugged it in to charge and within a few minutes the motor that vibrates the gun was running again, albeit weakly. After a couple more hours of charging, the sounds appear to work and are playing through the speakers again. I’ll let it charge fully and test it in the morning, but I hope that’s all it was.
Confirmed: Battery was pretty much dead. Charging it overnight restored the pack to full function. Phew. Just over reacted after spending a couple of hours hunting down a loose wire and getting it reconnected. OF COURSE it would be right after that that the battery would run out of juice slowly, making me worry I’d fried something important. :sigh:
Oh well, rather have one brief panic attack and look like a bit of a dunce than have the pack be busted! :walterpeck:
Glad to hear that the pack is working out. I almost forgot to mention that when things start acting funny like the sounds or lights, charge it first. If you want to, you could install and power meter on your pack so you know where your power stands. You can find them through www.rainbowkits.com, allelectronics.com, etc.
