IGN gives GBTVG an 8.0 - full review in today

Ghostbusters 1 was far from a kids movie. Any movie with the line “Yes, this man has no dick” is not for kids. Just because it didn’t have vulgarity every two seconds and tons of gore doesn’t mean it’s for kids.

For some reason people just assume that if it’s from the past then it must be for kids. Ghostbusters is on the same level as BTTF for Sci-Fi comedy, and neither are for kids, tough both did have their franchise spun off into kid friendly cartoons, that does not mean the franchise as a whole is for kids. And how the hell can they say the game is horrible when they don’t even have a ■■■■■■■ copy of it yet?

Europe will get the bluray with it for free, I don’t know if it will be on the bluray game or appart.

Not to track off too far but the original maker of that pack he owns is our very own Dan Amrich, and while it may not look like much compared to todays standards that pack was the shit back in the day.

I don’t care how inaccurate the pack is, any movie replica proton pack is the shit.

Yeah, I’m not a violent person…at all, but reading some of them made me want to, reach through my monitor and give those retar…sorry, I mean dumb-■■■■■, a virtual SLAP! up-side the head!

I mean, Ghostbusters fans childish?!

Here’s one I got a chuckle out of:

“The reason i dislike this game is because it turned my otherwise somewhat cool friend into a total ghost-busting ■■■. Its sick and he wont stfu. It sucks cause all i hear about when he shows up is GHOSTBUSTERS THA VIDEO GAME! Yea? F*ck it. This game is probably just like the movie, good but nothing to freak-out and talk non-stop for months about.”

The funniest thing about it is that, this is EXACTELY how my GF reacts to me when, I bring up the game (almost all day every day), just without the “■■■” part. But I’d swear to be damned that, a girl wrote that. lol

It’s only because of sites like these that I’m even familiar with “Movie Accurate” packs.

The news of the upcoming game revived my interest in all things Ghostbusters so since then I’ve seen tons of reference photos of the original packs and of course all of the lovely home-made ones that try to look as much as the ones seen in the films.

In all honesty, If I had seen Dan’s pack a year ago I would have been raving about it. He didn’t do a bad job but I’ve just become much more discriminatory.

Luckily I don’t take most of them too seriously. I mean, as insulting as some were, at least they just said what they wanted to say and left. Now I can’t say that about all of them (stupifyme specifically), but I at least give him props for his response to me. Sure he didn’t really admit anything, but thanking me for being respectful at least helped since saying that was him sort of agreeing that he could have handled it better even though he didn’t outright say it. Though that’s just the way I take it. Now I don’t agree with anything he said after that and it doesn’t excuse anything, but I at least saw one spark of decency and that does it for me.

Anyhoo, at least I don’t have to worry about IGN’s review anymore. Just Gamespot left for me. Really, now I can just get on with waiting for the game and I’m just going to ignore other places dealing with the game (boards and comments at least I mean) for now so I can take it easy.

I become a Mama bird when it comes to things that I like. I see one negative thing and the anger comes out full force.

Nowhere in that review was there a call for debate as to how “adult” or “Childish” Ghostbusters is.

In fact I almost did something immature by wanting to register and call him out specifically by an insult.

What can I say, I get nutty like that sometimes.

Ghostbusters isn’t something that needs my defense, it stands on it’s own achievements.

I take it personally though considering how much of my life I’ve spent on this franchise.

I also think of the people who have mortgages to pay, kids to feed and yet still find the time to make a film prop or even make a replica Ecto-1. Everyone’s allowed to indulge in a fantasy especially it’s it not hurting anyone.

Gamespot will rip it to shreds. Well maybe not to shreds but I’d be very surprised if they gave it a score as high as 8. THEY HATE EVERY GAME EVER MADE EVER IN LIFE.

I’m more interested in the other IGN reviews. I’m not expecting as high a score from IGN AU since they almost always give the lowest scores of the three branches but IGN UK that could go either way.

Seriously though comment boards should be abolished. it’s bad enough that any trolling tool can register at a message board but the way they gunk up comment threads is just painful sometimes. 2 out of every 5 comment threads I read(be it IGN, youtube or whatever) ■■■■■■ me off. What good are they anyway?

I don’t want to bump this topic off course but figured I’d respond to this.

As far as I’m concerned, I do not judge other people’s work. I will give constructive criticism but will not publicly judge someone’s work. I was simply sharing (what I thought was) a funny story.

As for the people trolling IGN, they do that on every single review. I have learned long ago not to read those comments. It’s best to just enjoy the review because its a pretty good read because Greg Miller is a fan and did a great job being objective while still letting the fans know what they wanted to know.

so true so very true… :sigh:

i dont get the point of comments boards either (not including GB fans or most other fan sites), i’m refering to IGN and YOUTUBE, sheesh what does it take for these sites to monitor and screen these peoples comments and delete them?

anyway didnt read the review but from what i heard it was a good one… “impressive”? its not what i was hoping for but it will do for an IGN official rating… although i’m curious. HOW DID GREG GET HIS HANDS ON THE GAME TO FULLY RANK IT??? :angryvigo: :boogieman:

on ign.com they just put up the video review go check it out

Not 2 shabby
