My name is Max-Olivier. You can call me Max. I would like to make a Proton pack. I thoght I was crasy but since I know this site, I discovered that there are plenty of people like me! lol
I would like to build an accurate proton pack with lights and sound. Money isn’t my problem. Let’s say 1000$. I’m not sure yet if I would buy a shell or make it. Plan’s are intimidating. If I can do a Proton pack from a shell and parts from the shop, I would be happy!
Is my plan correct?
I buy a shell and I also buy all the item in the shop and I make myself a Proton pack. Did I missed something?
You’re on the right track. I myself am starting my first build and have come to discover the plethora of resources and options available in this community. Building a pack can be a lot of fun, but it can also get expensive if you want accuracy and REAL parts. My first bit of advice, avoid eBay kits. Quite a few of those sellers are blacklisted for recasting other peoples work. An expensive lesson I learned the hard way. Read this thread for more information on who not to trust.
Another piece of advice is to use the forum search function. There are many people who make quality shells, thrower kits, electronics, and pack components in this community and they all sell through paypal. Additionally the GBfans Store has an awesome selection of real and resin cast parts. If you’re on a budget, resin cast is the way to go, but if your a stickler for the details, real parts are available. Granted not everything is available in the store, but there are always items being added and updated.
Lastly, if you have questions about how to build your pack or where to get parts, the forums have lots of threads with build advice and many knowledgeable people to get the answers for you. Just remember to use the search first because many people may have already asked your question and have your answer already posted.

I would also reccomend stalking a couple of build threads, make a listof what you like and who makes it if possible.
It is best to take your time and save the $ (if you find that the $1000 isn’t buying all the top quality parts that you want). I personally have bought 3 thrower kits for my current pack all from amazing sellers but I would find that I liked one more than the other. This can be kind of costly.
The same can be said for PVC / acrylic / aluminum tubing for pack parts.
But at the end of the day this will be YOUR PROTON PACK made to suit your preferences so have fun with it and remember the most difficult part of the build is learning when to take a break from it.

I just finished my GB2 pack with lights and sound for $800 but I made most of the stuff on my pack including the shell. If I had to buy all of it I think I would have been closer to $2000.
1-I didn’t talk about the light and sound. Do you think that this is a nice site to buy a light and sound chip? It seems simple to me. Everything is integrated in it. I like simplicity.
I can’t say about the lights and sound kit you linked to since I don’t own it. I have a Crix (Heavy Props) light and sound kit and I can and will endorse that.
If the shop here does not sell what you need then someone on this site does and will be happy to help you out.
That pack (And mine) where under $1000 because all the hard stuff was done from scratch. The more things you can build yourself the more money you will save.
And it doesn’t handle sound. You still have to shell out a few hundred dollars more for the sound kit.
If your budget is $1000. You just blew $600 making your pack light up and have sounds.
The Shop will get you started. We offer more parts than anyone.. and are the only places to get many of the highest quality replicas (such as brass and aluminum parts).
You can make a Proton Pack for $50 if you don’t care about how good it looks. Cardboard, hot melt glue and a lot of liberties can make it cheap. Scratch building parts is always cheapest, but it also can take quite a while.
That’s cool. Right now, I don’t buy. I’m still planning about what I want for my proton pack. It is complicated enough. By the way, there is no light and sound togheter in a chip?
Not that I’m aware of. I have a Crix sound card and a proptronics light kit in mine and they work great together. I’m working on a new pack so hopefully when I get to that point someone will be offering a complete light and Sound kit (HINT HINT!) Also before you buy anything I’d check this thread out.:
