So that I can prove myself to not be a “bot”, my name is Joshua Knight. I live in Cookeville, TN, and am currently attending TN Tech University. I graduate in May.
Last year was my second major costume undertaking, the first being MJOLNIR Mark VI armor. My brother and I decided to be Ghostbusters and this site, among others, was very helpful in that regard. When the time came for the campus costume contest, two other Ghostbusters showed up, and we decided to team up in order to not compete against one another. We took the prize.
Coincidentally, one of those other Ghostbusters is a member of this site, and my brother had viewed his videos concerning the lighting diagrams for the packs. Small world.
We were well-liked at the city-wide gathering where local businesses doled out candy to hundreds upon hundreds of children. People could not believe that we’d built our proton packs. We had a couple of offers of money to build packs for some who were impressed. Later that night, we ate at IHOP in costume, and the director of the Computer Engineering department came over to talk to us, asking us to come to his introductory engineering class the following class-day and give a presentation (in costume) about how we created the costumes and what electronics work was involved with the project.
This year, we are upgrading our packs to have movie-accurate lighting and, more importantly, sound effects. Cosmetically, they will also be made more movie-accurate.
My favorite Ghostbusters movie is definitely the first. I’ve watched it since I was little and can quote every line.
