Ok guys, so I’ve completely caved and it’s time to start getting ready for halloween. It has been TOOO long in the making for me to get with the GB times and get the uniform and pack, and I’ve finally said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and I’m starting down the path. Especially since joining up here and seeing all the amazing uniforms and packs that members have been making, and the absolutely amazing help and knowledge that’s in GBFans.net alone!! I feel confident that I can get everything I need and know what to do with it all… lol…

So here we go… Been doing my research and I’m going to get my uniform together RIGHT NOW. I’m still going through Proton Pack details and ironing out some questions from everybody about materials and stuff.

Ok, on with the Uniform. So I’ve made myself a list of what I need, and I would LOVE everyone’s advice on whether I am missing anything, maybe where I can get some things that I don’t know where to get yet, and just overall comments!!! Here it is;

I am going to be ordering 2 uniforms as I want to go with the original GB tan Uniform, and the GB2 charcoal grey uniform.

---- Nomex Tan Flight Suit - Ebay

---- Tru-Spec Black Flight Suit - Ebay or elsewhere…

---- DYES for the Black Flight Suit - Going to follow Jarius’s recipe, but where do I get the DYES?

---- Ghostbusters NO GHOST Patches - I know Ebay has them, But I might also use ETSY (JayM’s site)

                                                                            But JoJoCustomizes only has GB1 patches.  Where can I get GB2 patch?

---- Name Patches x2 - Definitely going to use ETSY’s!! Those patches are beautiful!

---- Elbow Pads x2 - Ebay or sports store. Just wondering if one black pair will work or if I

                                                                             need to dye a separate pair for the GB2 uniform?

---- Boots - Any specifc kinds? Ebay or labour store? 1 pair of black will work for both.

---- Belts x2 - I think Irricanian sells GB1 belts (Tan). Any ideas about GB2 belts (Black)?

---- Belt accessories - I can switch these between uniforms. Just need the gear. So Lifeguard,

                                                                             hose hook up/hose, flash light, and gun clip for wand.  Irricanian sells?

---- Chemical gloves - I’m guessing ebay as well. Or labour store?

That’s my list so far for the 2 uniforms. Can you all think of anything that I’m missing, or know of some places where I can get some of these things, or have any advice at all!?!?!?! Actually.. was just doing some research and found out that the GB2 uniform doesn’t have the yellow hosing… Am I right on that or is it just not showing in the pics i’m looking at?

Also, I just browsed the GBFans shop and noticed they have GB1 and GB2 patches, and chemical gloves… but they’re out of stock!!! Any idea when they restock!!!

Also, GBFans has both belts for the GB1 and GB2 uniform, so that settles that. :slight_smile:

Any more advice guys let me have it!! If i’m going to do this I want to do it right!!! Thanks again…

everything looks pretty good, sounds like you got most of it figured out. just a few things i’ll help you with

I can get dye at arts/crafts supply stores, drug stores and grocery stores in my area. check those.

if youre going for GB2 no ghost patches, captainamerica on ebay has the best ones available. you may have seen warnings around the site not to buy from him(including warnings from yours truly) but i believe if accuracy is what you’re going for, his are the only way to go. and while youre at it, get the GB1 and nametag patches as well, they are pretty much the best made.

black is the wrong color. the pads in both movies were white pads, painted gray. see my “where can i get elbow pads” thread for links to the best ones.

the correct style of boot is a leather paratrooper boot with toe cap and tap(flat) sole. the screen-used boots had a silver zipper up the side in GB1, and brass in GB2. the boots were Carolina paratrooper boots model 955, but these are hard to find since theyre not made anymore. The best possible replacement is the Corcoran 1500(no zipper) or 995(w/zipper). you can find the best deal by searching google shopping.

Sweet!!! Love the help Kind2311… Like I said… the knowledge and experience on this site can’t be beat!!! Going to start ordering this stuff within the next few days!!

Now I read about the flight suit sizing, am I right that I only need to measure chest size? Or are there other measurements that I should be taking as well?!?! I don’t want super tight, but I also don’t want baggy!!! So I want to get the order right the 1st shot!!

Thanks again guys… I haven’t even really done anything yet and I’m getting soo anxious and giddy like a little school girl… lol!!!

SHOOT!! Another question…

What are the dimensions for the NO GHOST patches on the GB1 and the GB2 uniform?!?!? Obviously the name tapes are set, but I want to make sure I get the right size patches for the arms.

That and I can’t find CaptainAmerica on ebay, but I found this website… is this the right site!!!

Ok… I think I answered the dimensions… I think i’m looking for about 3-4 inch sized patches, and there are two different nametapes between GB1 and GB2…

I’ve looked at CaptainAmerica’s website and his patches are damn nice, but now I’m scared from the skepticism i’ve read about him. Mind you Halloween is well off at the moment. What I do want though is the GB1 patch and nametape, and the GB2 patch and nametape.

The next problem, I have a HUGE last name… 11 letters… Do you guys think this will be a problem, or should I use my something like my Middle name (which I normally go by) and only has 5 letters???

They have full uniforms with all the bells and whistles and they do all the dying. I’m just wondering about accuracy, and price (if it’s a deal or not), or I can do better getting everything separately!!!

Blacklisted here or on ebay!!! Like I said, I don’t think many people on this site are too happy with him, but he does have really nice patches… and if it’s wait time, Halloween is awhile away… Or if i’m missing something I’d love to be filled in.. :slight_smile: Thanks guys!!

CostumeCostumeCostume is Joseph Kerezman aka CaptainAmerca on eBay. Note that the “I” in America is missing. I’ve purchased my GB1 and 2 no-ghost and name tags from him with no trouble. Only purchase through eBay. Do not buy anything else from him as it’s total garbage. But he does THE best no ghost patches and name tags out there.

Oh, and the GB2 grey suits have no leg hose.

Also budgie, I’d suggest a rothco for the GB2 charcoal, it simply gets a better dye color and pattern.

you dont need to give any measurements for the patches or nametags as he only sells one size and its the correct size.

as for suit sizing, just give me your shirt size, pant size, height, weight, body type, favorite song, favorite movie . . . . . .wait . . . .just the first 5 will do and I’ll be able to give you and idea of the right size suit to get, I’ve gotten pretty good at that.

Well if things don’t work out with your name tags, I recommend the Etsy guy. My tags from him are gorgeous.

Ok so GB2 uniform has NO LEG HOSE… that’s what I had thought too… So I can stop asking Irri about that.. lol… And you guys suggest a rothco for the GB2 suit… no problem… I love the way they DYE have been turning out with it too… soo good one to jump on instead!!

KIND2311… Shirt size is Medium… pant size is 32/33 Inches (go with 33 as a safety measure… some 32 inch stuff is a bit tight… and I read the thread about GET STUFF THAT FITS… lol)… Height is 5 foot 9… Weight is 180lbs… Body type is athletic/built… (geezus I feel like i’m doing an online dating registration.. lol)… but I have bit of a bigger upper body… See if that helps with suit sizing… :slight_smile: Thanks again!!

What do you think guys? Do these look like safe bets or are they wrong?!! I need to make sure I get the right GB2 Rothco Black Flight suit so that I can dye it appropriately according to Jarius’s recipe… and also want to make sure I get the right GB1 Nomex Tan uniform (avoid having to dye this one!!)

sounds like an XL/Regular Rothco would be your best bet for the black one, and a size 44R or 46R Tan Nomex.
