No. I’m so sick of these stupid remakes, they are rarely if ever better than the original, and with Ghostbusters, you simply will not be able to catch that “lighting” that it had with the original four.
It was like that abortion of a remake of “Nightmare on Elm St.” only one person can play Freddy Kreuger and that’s Robert Englund, without him that movie just wasn’t the same.To have different actors playing such iconic roles as Venkman,Spengler,Stantz, and Zeddmore, will suck just as badly.
if they can’t or won’t “pass the torch” just let the franchise stay the way it is. 2 films and a great cartoon series.
Hollywood needs to move on and quit ruining great films by remaking them…or allowing directors to screw with them to the point where the original charm is lost (you hear me Lucas!)

Do director’s have no dignity for their most well received work? i mean Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell allowed an Evil Dead remake, what is wrong with them?..keeping Ash out of it, at least gives the false hope that its a prelude to ED4.
I don’t even remember how it works at this point with Bill’s rights or share in it…ya think if he was so opposed to a third(hell, he even didn’t want to taint the franchise with a 2nd) movie he would hold up a remake if it ever got to that…or as long as he didn’t have to do anything except sign something, who knows these days he might get a kick out of watching a train wreck!
Yes…agreed with everyone here. I don’t see how an idea like this comes up from Ivan Reitman. Even watching the documentaries where he talks about it being so special to him…the time in his life and working with the people that “got it right”. Maybe he’s only seeing dollar signs now.
I think Reitman has been misquoted. Gb3 IS a reboot / remake. It will talk about a team of bumbling exterminators that will learn how to deal with the supernatural. Only that this team will not be Stantz, Spengler, Zeddemore and Venkman. They’ll be here to pass the torch and in my vision this make the movie a reboot.
Plus, in the last Aykroyd’s interview he hopes to have Murray on board. What’s the point to have Bill in the movie if this is a remake?

Geez. He misspoke. It’s not a remake. It’s not anything at this point. People make off-the-cuff remarks. Stop hanging on every little word of people who have absolutely no new information.
I find it interesting that people want to remake terrific films. I mean the film was awesome the first time, why not just leave it alone. But no one wants to remake terrible films. Those are the ones that should be remade. How come no one says “oh man, house of the dead was absolute ■■■■! Let’s do it right this time!”. It’s always “Man the Godfather was an awesome film! Let’s remake it with Justin Bieber as Michael Corleone!” It just seems like backward logic to me.
That being said, ghostbusters should not be remade, and honestly it doesn’t need a third film. I’d rather have another game or even a cartoon series that is on the level of the Real Ghostbusters. I can almost garuntee that GB3 will leave a sour taste in the mouths of fans. And I really don’t like the passing of the torch scenario. The ghostbusters should forever and always be Venkman, Stantz, Spengler, and Zeddemore.
I just want a ga damn Ghostbusters film as long as its good.

I’m looking at it from a practical viewpoint. There is no need for a third movie. Nothing needs to be wrapped up. Look at how the fourth Indiana Jones movie was received. I don’t want to see my childhood hero’s as geriatrics, and I don’t want to see a younger generation taking over the reins. I don’t understand why people are so gung ho for a new movie.

Ivan Reitman is old and he misspoke. I honestly don’'t think he should direct GB 3 when it eventually gets made. Give somebody young and fresh a real chance at making a great movie. Obviously the original GB’s will be taking some sort of back seat to a new team, so let’s have a new director all together take a shot at this. Maybe Marc Webb or Judd Apatow. I’d say give Harold Ramis a shot (Groundhog Day anyone?) but a new set of eyes might be best
