Dude, what exactly are you using? I might use something like that to build us some stunt packs because.. DUDE! SWEEEEEEEEET!!
End of the night. Have some of the bumper installed. Have the rest of it cut and ready to put on. Decided to paint it before putting on the bumper just so I make sure I get everything. So here it is after the first coat of primer. Will do one more tomorrow at work before I install the bumper and get ready for the first coat of black. Any suggestions? Flat black or gloss?
You are really doing a great job on this…makes me want to build some more…but need to build up some more funds so I can get me some more foamboard and glue. Keep up the great work
From what I know a mix of flat and gloss black makes it look really good!

Great pack. Love the way it’s turning out. May I ask how are you makeing your bummper? 
I have slats of wood, probably about 8"x3.25" and about .125" thick that I’m cutting into the proper form and gluing together. I didn’t want to make it out of the foam board cause I wanted it to be a bit stronger than the rest of the pack..unfortunatly, since I’m only glueing it together, well, I dunno how strong it’s actually going to be. Also, I’m doubling them up so it’s .25" thick. I just got done putting on the second coat of primer and will be applying the first coat of flat black today. I won’t have any pics of it up until tomorrow night since I have a hockey game tonight, but we’ll see how it goes. Thanks for the comments, guys. Keep it going. I’ve almost being looking forward to the feedback as much as I have been looking forward to finishing this project.

that is one EXCELLENT proton pack. For the time invested and money… that’s pretty amazing! Definately more screen accurate than the one I’m working on. Very nice!

Lemme look into what I have and I’ll try to get a list up tomorrow some time of all the stuff I used. But right now, I’ll just get the basics down.
I used 3 or 4 sheets of black Elmer’s foamboard from walmart. That is the BULK of the pack.
Back in the crafts section of walmart I bought a 1/4" x 3’ wooden dowel, a package of 3" x 8" x .125" wooden slats, and a package of popsicle sticks. Laugh it up now, but look at the results. You can’t even tell those things are popsicle sticks.
In the kitchen section of Walmart, I bought a microwave dish cover.
Oh, and two rolls of 1/2" scotch tape, used to attach the vacuum pump from the crank generator to the synchronous generator.
$30 from Wal-Mart, give or take.
Then from home depot I bought two kitchen sink drain PVC pipes (for the power cell) and a 2 inch PVC pipe for the Booster. Then various odds and ends to connect the cosmetic wiring. Oh, and a can of sandable primer spray paint (3.99) and flat black spray paint (also 3.99) And a few things of split loom. Two different sizes.
$18 from Home Depot.
And to round it up, I bought an automotive LED pack (comes with 3 LEDs, bought two and frankenstiened it together) and a blue LED thing for the powercell from Advanced Auto.
$25 from Advanced Auto which is totally optional.
Throw in a couple switches from Radio Shack (.89 cents each) for the particle thrower and find a few more small peices of PVC (those ones I used for the power cell might work nicely) and voila! A used ALICE pack shouldn’t be hard to find on Ebay. I managed to pick mine up at work…shhhhh. Anyway, I’ll come up with a more comprehensive list tomorrow with links to various websites.

but I was inspired by this thread. Threw this together over the last two days. I may have one this Halloween yet! Granted I still need to sand it all and do a fiberglass coating of the foam parts to give them some strength, but it is coming along nicely, I think.
that bumper looks pre-made…it must go lol only kidding. Both packs are looking super guys. keep up the good work
yeah I had the slight advantage of having some resin parts that I bought like 4 years ago, when I was originally going to make a pack. So I recently re-discovered them while cleaning some old trunks out and thought…man I really need to get on this.
(shakes fist at Warhammer 40K!)
So here we go. All’s left to do is the bumper and then the wiring/tubing. I’ll be working on the gun this weekend. S’coming along nicely. Oh, and for those of you keeping track, you might have missed it but I posted a fairly comprehensive list of the parts I’ve used thus far.

Going off of Stefan’s plans, it’s right about where it should be. On the other hand, if it’s not, I’m not to worried about it. Check the title of this thread. I’m not going for entirely movie accurate for this Halloween. Mayhaps for next one. Who knows? If I can do what I did out of foam board and other junk, then I should be able to get a good one going out of wood. New pics of some of the things I’ve done. I took a break from working on the gun to look into the sizings of that thing with the switch and the button left of the main body and decided to look in on my thread. Also connected the mother board to the ALICE frame. Oo! And my flightsuit came in the mail yesterday so I took a few pics to show it off with the pack. I’d say I’m about 70% done. Just gotta order name and no-ghost patch and then the little bit of work I’ve got left on the pack (wiring mainly (on that subject, anyone know where the hell I can find some of that hydraulic tubing? Can’t find it anywhere!)) and the gun. Well, anywho, here ya go!
Oh, and yes, I caught my paint miss on the tubes under the powercell. I’ll be touching those up later. Cheers!
