Is it safe to say that it’s not getting updated?

Do official game sites get updated a lot? In my experience the official web sites don’t get much attention, though I am far from a gaming expert. They could just not be bothering since other websites are doing the promoting for them.
At the very least they really should post some of these trailers though.
The Alone in the Dark website got updated pretty regularily, but I suspect part of the problem is that the GB:TVG site was an adopted one, not one they built from scratch.
They’ll probably end up waiting until the game is already out, and then add an update to let us know it has been released. lol
The Bioshock team updated the hell out of the Bioshock 2 website (somethinginthesea.com) a month or so ago. Not only that but they even so far as to put up viral marketing posters on sign posts somewhere that had the URL for th web site.They even made consistent updates every few days, something and that game isn’t even slated for release until around October I believe. With a little over a month to go until the GB game is released one would think that they’d be pushing full force to market the hell out of the game. The last update that was made to the site was the first Atari trailer that was released shortly after the announcement that Atari had taken over as publisher. Aside from that there have been a few news updates from the New York Comic-Con back in Feb, and that’s it. The mini-game on the site that is labeled as “new” hasn’t be “new” since late 2008/very early 2009. It’s sad that there isn’t more going into the web site to really get people more interested & excited.
It seems like since Atari took over as publisher nobody has put any effort into updating the site. It’s rather disappointing. I mean yeah, they did adopt the site from someone else, but that doesn’t make it impossible to add to it. I’m hoping that over the next few weeks they throw some more stuff up there.
At least they put up the page with all the pre-order goodies on it. So at least they know it’s still there.
I asked this question over at GB.net, but all I got was a sarcastic reply from Skankerzero. Hell, they could of offered me a free copy of a demo and I’d have updated the site for them! Not that hard really and kinda lazy in my opinion.

No. But it’d be nice to have one place to go to check out all the new info/media instead of having to scour the internet for it.

the news , the games , the trailers in the media section , the game description and info. Should I go on…

Updating the site is up to the discretion of the game-makers…and if they’re damn busy working on getting the final details nailed down for the release, as well as exclusive stuff for XBL and PSN, as well as conducting more and more freebies and tie-ins…
…then, yes, a sarcastic response and lack of update are justified. Especially if the makers are overworked, tired, and sick of whiny, bitchy fans.

Do you think we’ll see any of the trailers on TV, or do you think most advertising will be done on the net?
I’m sure with so much significance, we’ll see some TV adverts for the game.
Oh shut uuuuuuuup!! No one is bitching (except you of course), this thread was about asking a question and a pretty valid one at that. I’m fairly sure that delegating updates for a promotional website is within the resources of Atari’s marketing or PR department. If it isn’t then don’t have the thing, the point of the website is to promote the game and if they can’t for whatever reason maintain the site in a consistent fashion then I don’t think it is unreasonable to speculate what exactly the “struggle” is.
Yes the fact that Atari inherited it from Activision does make sense and a possible reason was all I was asking, not to encourage whining and bitching which I repeat Cliff NO ONE resorted to in the first place.
I think this should be blocked as the game is comeing out in about 4 weeks,and as i think no 1 cares about this topic,IMO we have enough INFO about the game but i think most of us don’t want to much as it could give away to much :whatever: the site sucks and has done for over a year now,i’ve got all i need to & want to know from this site and would like to thank the people who have gave there time to track down stuff about the game,so thanks guys.
Apparently its an inexcusable crime to want a web site designed for the purpose of keeping those people who are interested (or may become interested) in this game informed, entertained, and interested in the game until it is released would actually continue to update the site in an effort to keep people informed, entertained, & interested in the game.
Not every person who is interested in the game is a hardcore GB fan who is signed up on a message board for their information.
I understand that the devs are busy with the game, but here’s a thought…don’t most companies have separate departments with people that are specifically paid to manage the web site? If TR does not, why not hire a web development company to continue updating the site? Even if it’s just to update the news section & the media section?! The screenshots & vids that are on the site are extremely old. I get that the guys are busy, but they are not the only ones on the planet who can update the site with news and information. It would be nice if the game web site were the main source of news, media & information rather than this stuff coming from someone’s twitter or wherever else the information comes from.
Not only that, but from a marketing standpoint its always a good thing to keep the public informed of the progress you’re making on your product. For an average consumer checking out the GB game site they are not going to find out much. I mean, they’re going to get the basics, but the “basics” haven’t been updated since Atari took over so they’re not going to know that there have been improvements to everything in the time that the game was delayed.

And yes, I am aware that non ■■■■■■■■ GB fans have to basically run themselves ragged to get info. Hell, that’s how it was back in the days of GBHQ.
And again, it is entirely possible that TR had been busy working on getting interviews and promotional campaigns and nailing down the final details that they have not had time to work on the site. I imagine with how meticulous the developers have been, they want to do it themselves and not leave something like that in the hands of an untrustworthy third party.
And I’ll give you odds that they will be fixing and tweaking right up until the last moment before the product has to be shipped, mainly due to people (read: insane fans with no life who complain about the N-Filter being two degrees off kilter and whine that it will ruin the game along with Peter’s pant legs, the Twin Towers, and the ALICE straps) bitching and nitpicking over the most minute and trivial details, just to make sure fans are satisfied.
The folk at TR know what they’re doing. They’re as much fans of GB as we are. Get over it.
Besides…if the site was updated, I’ll give you even odds that SOMEONE will have found SOMETHING wrong with it and will try to raise a shitstorm of “OH NOES THE SITE IS WRONG!!! THE GAME WILL SUCK AND I’LL HATE IT!!!” much like the majority of you lot have already done.
Put down the text messaging and Pac Man video games and Zima and loud music and quit wanting everything instantly. Yes, I want the game just as bad as you. But, with age comes wisdom and the knowledge that you have to wait.
I waited for months for the second issue of “Legion” to hit the shelves. I waited for months for the Sholly Fisch book. Hell, we’ve all waited for years for RGB to come out as a complete set.
Wishes are granted. But they take time.
