LEG HOSE... what is it, really?

There was something that popped to my head, and it’s… WHAT IT IS, AND (or) WHAT EXACTLY IS THE PURPOSE of the LEG HOSE (in GB science terminology, that is).

Reason I’m asking, is to see WHAT can I add to it, depending on the actual meaning and according to the movies, so I could add a greeblie at the end of the hose in the back, and have just the “meaning”, other than “transfering urine from your suit” as I’ve heard one time… which BTW I don’t believe it at all.

There is no purpose, it’s just make the uniform look more “Sci-Fi”-ish and “Busy”.

I … I really don’t like to talk about it… its just… dirty

Another theory is that it serves as a ground against the static electricity produced by the Proton Pack.

Its a catheter, that’s what I was told that Dan himself said.

As far as I know there’s no canon explanation for what the leg hose does. I’ve told people it’s for taking a whizz which always gets a laugh.

As for what its purpouse could be…

Think back to the real ghostbusters episode where the original suits, soaked in ectoplasm, are left in the basement until they become saturated with psychokinetic energy leaking from the containment unit and take on a life of their own. One might imagine that the hose, combined with the belt circuit is designed for removing this psychokinetic energy from the suit before it builds up to dangerous levels, and the belt circuit provdes a readout of said levels and total exposure.

It also snakes around back where the second half of the belt gizmo goes, and folks have postulated that the belt gizmo is some kind of radiation detector.

I’ve also considered the possibility that it’s for drainage when you get covered in ectoplasm, but that doesn’t seem too likely. I’m not a big fan of the radiation detector theory either though.

I think my favorite theory is that it, combined with the belt gizmo

imagine, you are wearing a flightsuit. in a jet, high above and far from a bathroom.

I always thought it was for pee pee.

Mighty big catheter.

Pee hose. There is no question.

Water cooling system for the pack and the wearer.

PISS!

Unless Aykroyd was being cheeky, I don’t see how it could be a “cooling system” for the pack as there’s nowhere to attach it to the pack.

what’s weird is trying to come up with a reason they are on the tan suits but not the charcoal ones..if you’re trying to find a “reason” or what they are within the movie that is…

That’s just an idea I came up with, not anything I heard mentioned by the creators.

And technically no it was never connected to the pack. A dead-end hose taped to the back of your belt isn’t functional for anything… that’s where the imagination comes in. To imagine an actual purpose for it means assuming there is more to it than what’s actually shown in the movie.

I also like the idea of it being some kind of grounding system so that the pack-wearer isn’t constantly shocked by painful static discharge.

Isn’t that what the boots are for?

The charcoal suits are an upgraded model which make use of a conductive fabric to help block psychokinetic energy. But the conductive fabric doesn’t breathe very well, so they only wear them in the winter months.

the piss tubes from the first movie were rendered useless as the second movie lacked any “piss-your-pants-scary” elements. This also applies to the second movie’s lack of “funny” and any worries of the GBs wetting them with laughter. :stuck_out_tongue:

but..but..but they wear khaki in the final battle with hoses  :stuck_out_tongue:

THE CHARCOAL SUITS WERE AT THE DRY CLEANERS. :boogieman:

Now go to bed!
