Hi, I’m looking to get an acturate proton pack with the lights and sounds, but I work so much that I know I wouldn’t be able to make one of my own. If you or anyone you know is selling whole packs(with gun. please email me at [email protected], and another reason I am posting is I would like to know a fair price for the gun,pack & all. I was figuring between 600 to 800. Please include picture with offer, and I will also be checking selling history. Thank you for your time.
Norm Gagnon is the way to go, his link is here somewhere. Great guy to deal with, I have seen some of his work and he is one of the few guys that mass produces packs. There are a few guys here that have owned some of his work so if you need a reference, just ask. 
If you’re talking about perfectly accurate visually, plus accurate lights and accurate sounds. You could be looking at at $1,200 to $2,000. :x
Yeah, Norm’s aren’t the best, and his work seems to really, really vary - some the best ones he was putting out were like 2 years ago when he was using Ken’s parts - but he’s the closest you’ll get to accurate on that kind of budget.

I don’t mean that disparagingly, though - he kick started a lot of this and his plans were the best there was for years. It’s just that you can get a lot more accurate than his stuff now, but not for cheap. His packs are a bargain, all things considered.
An accurate proton pack prop replica, meaning fiberglass shell, correct greeblies, lights, possible sound, alice frame, aluminum motherboard, etc is gonna run you around the 3000.00 mark for quality. 600-800 is gonna get you a halloween pack that has lights.
Don’t think much of Norm’s work, then? 
i like norms work actually. I jus think that you get what you pay for is all. A prop replica pack is gonna be expensive though, and by replica i mean the same components the real ones had.
No, I understand… like I said over on the other place, people don’t seem to realise that accuracy costs. 
Norms really are the best for that money, Joshua. You won’t get sounds in that price range, not a hope in hell.
Also, I like how you think people will be “offering” thier packs to you - if you have a good pack, it’s a seller’s market, and there are people with much deeper pockets than you. Take my advice - get a Norm Pack and be happy with it, or be prepared to double your money in order to get an accurate one.
Thank you for the advice. I have sent norm an email ,and just waiting for a response. Now, these other packs that cost a grand or more. I would like to recieve some more information on were to check them out. If anyone knows where I can find one please leave a link.
yea i emailed norm about a proton pack over 2 weeks ago and have not gotten an email back. i used the email address on his site does anyone know if thes another way to get in touch with him? thanks
As I understand, Norm is a busy guy… give him some time and he will contact you… eventually.
You have to understand, “selling” completed packs is by and large pretty much illegal, which is why kits go around so often instead. Outside from eBay, and the occasional private sale, you’re simply not gonna see accurate Packs farmed out and offered for sale.
If you want to score a pack like that, you really need to hang round here for at least a few months, see what comes up, get to know the community, send PMs, and see how things develop. This is why, when it comes to super-accurate, it tends to be best to build your own.
I still think, for what you’re looking for, Norm is your best bet. It’s accurate enough that 99.9% of people wouldn’t know the difference, and if you’re that anal about the rest of the difference, well, the best thing you can do is learn to build yourself.

I am looking into private sales, and I do plan on sticking around so hopefully I can get ahold of Norm soon. I gotta know though I’m new to this kind of thing how come it’s illegal to sell home built models of a prop?
I mean usually when they sell a prop from the movie It’ll come with a certificate of authentication. So how is making one illegal? j/c.

Explains most of why it’s illegal, and in particular, the restrictions put on us with regards to making and selling Packs. I hope that’s of some use to you! This is why you’ll rarely see one come up for sale - no-one can mass produce these things and if you spend the time building them to be completely accurate, people very rarely part with them.
