First, I AM a scientist, so back off man!
Always loved Ghostbusters, and have always been intrigued by the proton pack.
I have been doing a lot of research on building a pack and gun and all information leads back to this site, so I must be in the right place.
Never built a prop / replica before, but I am a fast learner.

It’s not really that hard to build a proton pack. But it can be time and monney consuming. Just do a lot of research before you start and you’ll be fine.
Do you plan to build from scratch or use a fiberglass shell?
I would like to use a fiberglass shell with metal parts, real clippards, knobs and fittings. I plan on matching that up with a metal thrower. I am only making this once, so I am going big.
Looks like you have the right idea. I would put a order in for all your metal bits right now. You’ll have time to save up. You should also make the reference section your home page. Your going to be looking at it alot and I mean ALOT.. don’t buy a shell off eBay from Video Bob. Or anything from him for that matter. He’s a recasting sleaze ball and not welcome in the community for good reason. Good luck man!
That’s gonna be a killer. If you can, try to get a shell from Vincenzo330. I would if I had the monney. But I don’t and thus a shell was out of question for me.
Good thing one could make a fairly good looking pack from wood(thanks for Stefan’s plans) 
It’s not accurate at all, but close enough for everyone to recognize. And if someone asks I can tell them I have built it myself!
But ready made parts are way more easy to assemble. I think you’ll be fine!
