A little update… I have been working on this thrower just about every night after work all this week. A lot of drilling, tapping and sanding later… and I was ready lay down some paint. I started with a coat of rustoleum automotive primer, then went in with a coat of rustoleum matte nickel and then finally the rustoleum satin black. The grips after primer were done with a flat rustoleum brown then misted with the satin black. When I put the mist on I held the can about 3 feet away so that I didn’t get any true uniform cover but still got that nice even mist. The photos don’t really do the grips justice…
During assembly I ran the wires for the momentary switches and gun ear LED. I believe I had a couple of mini strokes during this process though trying to route everything without destroying any of the connections…it is definitely tight. I know the screen used throwers had exposed wiring on the gun ear switch and LED that they covered with electrical tape but I am not a fan of just how far below the gun ear the Crix kit pre wired setup hangs out…It will still look good though…and no one but me and the super die hards will ever know. In an attempt to somewhat mimic the screen used throwers I wrapped the gun ear with a couple of pieces of electrical tape and it turned out pretty well.
There are still a few answers I need to try and turn up…so some forum searches are in order in the near future…I have no idea how I am going to run and mount some of the lights…specifically the barrel lights. Because Crix’s kit has no instructions that I have seen thus far I still have to figure out which DPDT Toggle switches are intended to go where so something doesn’t get mounted in the wrong place. Then there is the bar graph mount and what to use for the “frame”… There is still a lot left to do…and time is getting short with the count down to dragon con ticking away.
