Has anyone run into one of these figures mis-packaged in a Winston Zeddemore clamshell? The back cardboard is correct with Walter Peck’s info.
Is this just a screw up or does it make it rare?
Technically yes, it’s rare because it’s a mistake and 99.9% of the packaging released is correct. There’s definitely small subsets of people who collect misprints and things like that but the value really doesn’t increase much, if any at all. There might be someone out there willing to pay a few extra bucks but they are going to be tough to find.
When these were available at Big lots, every single one of these that they had in stock were mislabeled as Winston. they were selling for around $8 there at the time. I’ve honestly never seen one that wasn’t a mislabel.
If there were multiple instances of this occurring, it could be some sort of alphabetical mixup, as in the inserts beginning with “Wa” were right next to the ones with “Wi” and something simply got put in the wrong stack, and the machinery did the rest.
On the other hand, it could’ve been like the old Simpsons episode with the fortune cookies.
“Hey, we’ve run out of Walter Pecks.”
“Just use the Winstons. No one will notice.”
