Is the MMM Booster tube fit perfectly on the Gbfans shell?
The GBFans shell is one of most accurate shells as for dimensions.
The correct dimensions of the booster tube can be found DIY Metal Proton Pack Parts (A Shopping List) - Proton Packs - GBFans.com
You’ll have to ask colin, or maybe he’ll chime in, as to what the exact dimensions his booster tube is. I believe the OD and wall thickness is correct.
I think it would depend on if it’s already been cut for the eda angle. I think Colin will cut to the correct lenght/angle if you buy direct from him, but I’m not sure if you are buying from him or from another party that already cut it.
I would be curious to ask what is the length and angle of the booster tube. They say it’s more or less like Stefan’s plan but I want to be precise.
Somebody may know about this ![]()
The tubes I have are 2.5" O.D with .125" wall thickness, I was looking into custom cutting the angle and lengths for the customers particular shell but this has been problematic, there are different measurements for the different shells out there with no “baseline” measurement. I’m looking into getting a few different options.
I can understand that. The only thing is that the angle has to be perfect, Otherwise, it doesn’t work, true?
Is there any reason you can’t cut it yourself? That way you could get the angle perfect.
It is an idea. Nobody seems to have the angle so I’ll manage myself.
I think most people leave it uncut because different shells can have different angles and it would be impossible for them to accommodate everyone. Also depending on what pack they are trying to reproduce the booster tube length changes. I think your best bet is to either buy the tube from a seller or from a metal place and cut it yourself.
I’ll simply measure the angle from the gbfan’s shell
I saw an image with the booster tube a little bit inside of the plate just above the EDA disk. Is it normal? It’s like if someone would dremmel the plate to put the booster tube inside it.
Some people cut into the EDA, some people place the Tube above it… it’s all a matter of personal choice.
