So I built this sucker three years ago out of fun. I had built a pack before on the same lines of me wanting to make it custom, which took me 6 months. This pack? It took me two days to build and finish. It was mostly a big trip to the home depot and redio shack as you can see most of the pack is built out of found parts. Total cost was only 100 bucks, 50 of which was the ALICE frame.
Some modifications I would like to do is get a different ribbon cable, and attatch it differently, and get thicker cable to replace the colored wire. The labels could use replacement, and I’ve thought about weathering it, though it seems to be doing that just fine on its own.
The wand has both movie and cartoon influences to it, and I was really happy with how it came out. No working lights, and the only damage it has taken is from water on the labels and the Ion arm broke off at a costume contest last year but was easily glues back on with gurilla blue. And for some reason the two pads on the end of the Ion arm also came off. Oh well.
I’m really proud of this pack, even though I do sometimes get annoyed with it because it’s not a movie pack. But maybe if I can get some cash together I can start working on one of those too.
